These two packed their day with smiles and laughter surrounded by family and friends. This NYC Greek wedding photography is a beautiful celebration that can serve as lots of inspiration.
We started the day getting ready with Sandy and Jimmy in their respective homes. Sandy got ready at a private home that was both elegant and fun with her ladies. Jimmy getting ready in his parent’s house was also filled with laughs and smiles from his boys.

These photos document those sweet moments and all the laughter and fun that happens while everyone is getting ready. They are a beautiful way to capture that special time in your life.
After they were ready, we went over to the church for some photos before their ceremony started. Jimmy waited patiently at the altar for his beautiful bride to arrive. Sandy and her father rolled up in style in a gorgeous Rolls Royce, going perfectly with her stunning dress. The look on his face when she walked up the aisle was priceless.
The Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn is a beautiful space for weddings. With ornate details and a light filled sanctuary, this church is a beautiful place to get married. Their traditional ceremony had lots of smiles, laughs, and even some tears. As New York wedding photographers, we love capturing ceremonies like this.
The traditional Greek wedding ceremony is a beautiful and meaningful event that is steeped in history and symbolism. Couples who wish to have a traditional Greek wedding can expect to follow a number of customs and traditions during the ceremony and reception.
One of the most well-known wedding traditions is the exchange of wedding rings. For Greek weddings, they wear rings on the right hand. They are traditionally made of gold, and the bride’s ring is often often includes a diamond or other gemstone. After the rings are exchanged, the bride and groom will typically kiss each other.
Another Greek wedding tradition is a crown ceremony. This custom is typically done during the ceremony. Typically, the best man will take two crowns and place them on the heads of the newlyweds while an official pronounces them married. The crowns can typically made of metal, flowers or wicker, but they can also be made out of other materials.
We took a few photos with their bridal party outside of the church before heading over to Sand Castle in New York for their reception. Since it was a winter wedding, their Brooklyn wedding photos were taken indoors. The couple was far too cold for outdoor photos on this windy day, so we used the gorgeous photo space at the venue to take pictures.
We started with family photos in the reception room. This made it nice and easy to gather everyone in one place. Plus, the main ballroom at Sand Castle is just drop dead gorgeous. As New York wedding photographers, we love all the details, stylish bar, and dance floor. It’s an awesome space for a wedding reception where you can take formal portraits in one area to then party in another.
After family photos it was time to get some fun bridal party photos before cocktail hour. Their wedding party was a ton of fun, giving us some candid wedding photos on Long Island. Sand Castle weddings are great for the versatility in the spaces, with a photo studio, bridal suite, cocktail room, reception room, and holding room. The couple’s wedding portraits were quick and easy, as they were ready to party.
For cocktail hour, Sandy and Jimmy had a delicious Greek food buffet which was full of lots of tasty treats. With music playing in the background, guests enjoyed mixing and mingling. As New York wedding photographers, we love when there are great food displays at a wedding. It makes for happy guests and great photos.
Once dinner started, Sandy and Jimmy took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. We love a wedding with loved ones and happy faces all around the room. With lots of fun shout outs in their speeches, this wedding party had an awesome sense of humor.
Sandy and Jimmy did the Greek money dance, a tradition where guests put money on the bride and groom as they dance. It’s a fun way to get some extra cash for the honeymoon, and Sandy and Jimmy had a blast doing it! Plus, it makes for some super unique NYC wedding photos.
