We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
Alexis and Patrick got married on a breezy summer day at Tappan Hill Mansion. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we have shot at this historic Tarrytown estate many times across every season. We know the light, the spaces, and what makes this venue work on camera. You can learn more about our approach on our wedding photography services page.

Alexis and her bridesmaids started the morning in the bridal suite together. There was a lot of laughing, movement around the room, and a generally good vibe throughout the whole morning. We hung her dress off the rotunda staircase, which consistently produces one of the best shots at this venue. Before she got dressed, we also did a round of fun pajama portraits.

After the pajama portraits, Alexis stepped into her dress and headed out toward the ceremony area. Patrick waited outside while she paused for a first look with her father just inside the doorway. That moment was quiet and genuine, and we stayed back to give them some room. Then she walked out to Patrick for their own first look, which was equally real and moving.

The ceremony space was filled with florals from Damselfly Designs, and we used them as a backdrop. At this wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion, the couple chose a spot that photographed well from several angles. The light was good, the setting had depth, and the couple was present and engaged throughout. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, that combination is what we are always working toward.

Next, we walked down to the lawn for their couple portraits after the ceremony space work was done. We also went around to the front of the mansion to get both nature and architecture in the mix. This is a consistent move at Tarrytown estate venues, and it pays off for the final gallery. The Hudson River views from the grounds and the stone facade of the building together give you real variety.

Tappan Hill Mansion sits on the former estate of Mark Twain in the rolling hills of Tarrytown. The hilltop property overlooks the Hudson River and Palisades, and the stone manor is secluded without being hard to reach. As a Beacon-based photography team, we work at venues like this one across the region year-round in all conditions. The mix of landscape, architecture, and interior spaces makes it a strong venue for a full day of photography.

After couple portraits, we moved into family and wedding party photos in the ceremony space. The group moved through each setup efficiently, and the couple got tucked away well before guests began to arrive. As the light got lower in the afternoon sky, the ceremony started with good natural light coming through. This wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion gave us strong ceremony frames because the timing worked out well.

Cocktail hour ran in the corridor and out on the terrace during golden hour in the Westchester evening. Guests had access to a large spread from Abigail Kirsch and spent time outdoors in the warm summer light. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we stayed active during this window to capture both candid and portrait moments. The glass-enclosed promenade gave the whole hour a consistent and photogenic quality.

The reception started with introductions of the parents, the wedding party, and then the couple. Parent dances came first, followed by the couple’s first dance with the band ready to go. From there, they moved straight into a full dance set, which kept the floor going all night. Speeches from the father of the bride, the maid of honor, and the best man rounded out the program.

The cake cutting was quick and low-key, done without a big production in the middle of the reception. Alexis also did an outfit change partway through the night, which gave us a fresh look for coverage. After that, the night was mostly dancing and talking with guests around the room. This wedding at Tappan Hill Mansion had a natural, easy rhythm from dinner through the end of the night.

The band kept the floor moving through most of the reception at this summer wedding. As a Beacon-based photography team, we moved through the room from different positions to cover the full space. We also pulled the couple aside briefly for a few nighttime portraits outside the main hall. The energy inside and the light on the dance floor both worked in our favor.

Tappan Hill Mansion is one of the stronger estate venues in Westchester for a full-day wedding. The property accommodates both large celebrations and more intimate guest counts with separate spaces for each. Every detail of the day came together because of a well-matched team of vendors. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we appreciate working alongside professionals who run a tight operation.

Abigail Kirsch handled catering with a focus on quality ingredients, and the food spread during cocktail hour was well-received. Damselfly Designs did the florals, which showed up well in both the ceremony space and the portraits. Bar Wedding handled hair and makeup for the day. Sound Image Band provided the live entertainment, and Copper Row Studio designed the stationery.

We have photographed this venue across multiple seasons and in a range of weather conditions. Rain, sun, summer heat, or winter light, Tappan Hill Mansion works well throughout the year. As a Beacon-based photography team, we know this Tarrytown estate and how to shoot it well. If you are getting married here, reach out and we can walk through what full-day coverage looks like.
