Jeanine and Doug got married at a beautiful Green Building wedding in Brooklyn. As romantic Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we absolutely love this unique event space. Located in the heart of Gowanus, this stunning wedding venue is a mix of rustic and industrial. Their amazing large wedding in Brooklyn was a perfect day to photograph.
With a gorgeous bride, Doug and his groomsmen kept their looks simple and stylish. Jeanine rocked an amazing bridal gown that photographed beautifully at every angle. The couple added personal touches to their wedding theme with several personal touches that added flair to their day. Plus, the former brass foundry with exposed brick walls and natural light makes for a stunning backdrop all on its own.
The bride got ready at the couple’s apartment, located in Chelsea Manhattan. They wanted to do their wedding day first look and portraits on the High Line because it’s special to both of them. As a couple, they’ve spent a lot of time in the West Village and wanted to document it. This was a perfect spot because it was close to the getting ready location.
As an award-winning New York City wedding photographer, we love to take advantage of the city’s architectural elements. We started with some photos on the High Line and worked our way down toward their apartment. Doug and Jeanine had some great looks in this iconic Manhattan wedding photo location. Normally we only photograph on the High Line early in the morning, but people made room for our lovely couple.
After the couple was ready to head out, Doug met Jeanine on the High Line. His reaction was perfect for these iconic NYC wedding photos. People made way for them at this crowded park, which was perfect for this hot summer day. These two got married in the middle of a heatwave, but it didn’t stop them from having stunning wedding photos in Manhattan.
After the first look, we headed to their Brooklyn Green Building wedding. This space is a mix of romantic and raw, which made for a great backdrop during their ceremony and reception. Jeanine and Doug were both dressed to the nines for their special day. Her hair and makeup even held up perfectly in the hot NYC summer wedding heat.
When the couple was ready to head to the wedding venue, we hopped on a bus. Taking photos with their family members at their Green Building wedding was important to get done before the ceremony. That way, these two could enjoy their cocktail hour without interruption. We got to know this amazing couple and their guests during the portrait time before the wedding. Keeping the venue’s original exposed brick in tact, the iconic architecture in this Brooklyn, New York space made for a perfect venue.
The Green Building, restored into an elegant event space, was such a beautiful backdrop for this couple’s photos. Their Brooklyn wedding ceremony took place in front of large windows that let light into both levels of this event space. It made every photo here perfect, especially with the evening light coming through. They had a unique and personal ceremony with lots of laughter and good vibes.
After the vows were said, Doug and Jeanine had lots of fun with their Brooklyn wedding reception. They opened up the dance floor for a DJ that kept everyone on their feet. We love photographing weddings where everyone is having a great time on the dance floor! It makes every photo from these moments special.
Above their heads during the ceremony was a unique floating flower display. After the ceremony, they had the flowers looming over their heads for the sweetheart table. This accent for their Green Building wedding was perfect because it really allowed this rustic space to become a DIY wedding that dreams were made of.
It was an amazing wedding for this couple! After the ceremony, the party got started. The DJ was really good and played plenty of dance songs as well as slower songs for their first dance as a married couple. Doug and Jeanine were ecstatic to have lots of family and friends around them celebrating their special day. These two had a floating reception, meaning that their guests stood while enjoying floating food.
Despite the heatwave, the couple used the combined indoor and outdoor parts of the unique event venue in Brooklyn. Green Building weddings are unique in that they have both outside and inside options for ceremonies and receptions. Cocktail hour and desserts were enjoyed outside, while inside was perfect for ceremony and the dance floor. The couple and guests were able to enjoy both sides of this unique wedding space, while still getting some time outside in this amazingly hot summer heat.
As Brooklyn wedding photographers, it’s so important to be able to capture good lighting no matter where we are. We had so much fun playing with light at this Green Building wedding. It can be a bit of a tricky situation with exposed brick walls and dark accents, but we made Jeanine and Doug’s wedding photos iconic and fun. We loved getting to know this awesome couple and working together with them in Brooklyn.
One of the other unique parts of the reception was the bongo player. They specifically had someone playing bongos on the dance floor along to the DJ’s beats. They were great! It was such a fun idea for their reception and really allowed the guests to get up and dance. They didn’t need any coaxing with all of that music. With this building that was originally constructed as a foundry, the 6,000 square feet of combined indoor and outdoor space is perfect for a huge party on your big day.
Jeanine and Doug also had a silent cake cutting which is a new tradition that we love. Instead of having a large announcement, the couple subtly cut the cake with just their Brooklyn wedding photography team present. It was a lot of fun for us to see that because it’s pretty uncommon amongst our wedding clientele.
It was a perfect end to an amazing day. Good food, great drinks and lots of dancing made for a fun wedding that we were happy to be a part of! Thanks again to Jeanine and Doug for having us as your New York wedding photographers! It was such a beautiful Green Building wedding in Brooklyn.
For couples who want a Green Building wedding, don’t think twice about this amazing event space. With high ceilings, window light, and rustic vibes, you can’t go wrong. We love capturing memories at this beautiful NYC wedding venue in the heart of Brooklyn. Reach out and let us know what you’re thinking, we’d love to help capture your special day.
