LGBTQ Little Stony Point Engagement Photos in Cold Spring, NY

We are so excited to share Megan and Beth’s engagement session at one of our absolute favorite Hudson Valley spots. Little Stony Point Park sits right along the Hudson River in Cold Spring, NY. As Beacon wedding photographers, we return to this stunning location again and again. These LGBTQ Little Stony Point engagement photos from a beautiful March day are truly some of our favorites. Furthermore, this early spring session reminded us why we love Hudson Valley engagement photography so deeply.

Why We Love March Engagement Sessions in the Hudson Valley

March is a genuinely underrated time for an engagement session in the Hudson Valley. Before the leaves return, the landscape reveals its raw and honest structure. Bare trees create clean, graphic lines that contrast beautifully against the open sky. Additionally, the soft early spring light wraps around couples in the most flattering way. We always encourage couples to consider this season for their Cold Spring engagement photos.

Early Spring Engagement Photos Before the Leaves Return

Many couples hesitate to book an engagement session before the trees leaf out. However, we know from experience that early spring has its own remarkable magic. The absence of foliage actually opens up incredible views across Little Stony Point Park. As a result, these LGBTQ Little Stony Point engagement photos feel open, airy, and timeless. Moreover, bare branches create natural frames that draw every eye straight to the couple.

LGBTQ Little Stony Point Engagement Photos at the Overlook

We always love beginning Little Stony Point sessions at the top overlook when possible. The views from up there stretch across the Hudson River toward Storm King Mountain. On this March day, Beth bravely faced her fear of heights to share the moment with Megan. Together, they stood at the overlook and gave us some truly breathtaking images. Furthermore, the raw emotion of that moment gave the entire Hudson Valley engagement photography session its heart.

Hudson Valley Engagement Photography Built on Authentic Emotion

There is something deeply moving about watching someone face a fear for love. Consequently, the overlook images from Megan and Beth’s session carry a special kind of weight. We focus strongly on authentic, unposed emotion in all of our engagement sessions. Therefore, we simply gave these two space to be present together while we worked around them. The genuine connection between Megan and Beth made every single frame feel effortless and real.

How Beacon Wedding Photographers Work Every Cold Spring Angle

The overlook at Little Stony Point Park offers multiple vantage points that we love to explore. We use wide compositions to capture the sweeping Hudson Valley landscape behind a couple. Additionally, we move in close to emphasize tender expressions and quiet moments of connection. For these LGBTQ Little Stony Point engagement photos, the dramatic sky above Cold Spring served as a breathtaking canvas. Indeed, the Hudson Valley never fails to deliver when it comes to natural backdrops.

Little Stony Point Park Trail Engagement Session in Early Spring

After the overlook, we followed the winding path downward through the bare winter trees. Little Stony Point Park features a lovely forested trail that curves naturally toward the Hudson River shoreline. We particularly love using this path during early spring sessions in March. The light filters through the branches in a soft, romantic way that is truly unique to this season. As a result, we captured some beautifully organic forest trail photos for Megan and Beth’s engagement session.

March Engagement Photos Along the Cold Spring Forest Trail

Walking together along a trail gives couples a natural, relaxed way to move through photos. Consequently, trail images tend to feel less posed and more genuinely candid. We guide couples gently through different movements and moments as Beacon wedding photographers. Therefore, the journey down the path produced images full of laughter, glances, and quiet togetherness. These Little Stony Point engagement photos along the trail are among our very favorite from the entire session.

Hudson Valley Engagement Photography and the Power of Place

Cold Spring and Little Stony Point Park give Hudson Valley engagement photography an extraordinary sense of place. The rocky terrain, the bare canopy, and the sound of the river create a full sensory experience. We work to make sure the landscape feels present in every frame without overpowering the couple. In fact, the environment and the people in it tell the story together in the most beautiful way. Additionally, the path down to the beach builds natural narrative momentum throughout the session.

Finally, we made our way to the rocky Little Stony Point beach to close out the session. The beach offers a completely different energy from the forest trail and the overlook above. On this particular March day, high tide had moved in and limited our space along the shoreline. Nevertheless, the landscape absolutely delivered with Storm King Mountain rising dramatically across the water. As a result, these LGBTQ Little Stony Point engagement photos on the beach are simply stunning in scale and beauty.

Beacon Wedding Photographers Adapting to Cold Spring High Tide

We love working with whatever conditions the Hudson Valley presents on any given day. High tide actually pushed Megan and Beth closer together and tighter to the rocky shoreline. As Beacon wedding photographers, we always find creative ways to use our environment to our advantage. Therefore, we leaned fully into the intimacy that the tidal landscape naturally created between these two. The result was a series of warm, close moments set against an extraordinary Cold Spring backdrop.

Storm King Mountain Backdrops for Your Hudson Valley Engagement Session

Storm King Mountain and the surrounding Hudson Valley landscape gave every beach image incredible depth. The reflection of the early spring sky on the water added another layer of beauty to the scene. We are so proud of what we captured for Megan and Beth during this engagement session. Their LGBTQ Little Stony Point engagement photos are a genuine testament to their love and to this extraordinary place. We feel so fortunate to do this work as Hudson Valley engagement photographers every single day.
