We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
We met Suji and David for their engagement session on a late August evening. This Cold Spring engagement shoot took place at Little Stony Point Park. It’s one of our favorite spots for couples who love the outdoors. Suji and David wanted lots of beach photos, and the park gave us exactly that. From the first few frames, their energy set the tone for the whole evening.

We timed the session for sunset, which meant soft, warm light for most of the shoot. As the sun dropped lower, the light turned gold and then pink over the water. We walked with Suji and David down to the beach area, taking our time along the way. Good walking shoes made the uneven trail much easier to manage.

Once we reached the water, the real fun started. This Cold Spring engagement shoot leaned into movement, with plenty of laughing and easy conversation between takes. Suji and David were completely comfortable in front of the camera, which made our job simple. We love when couples get their feet in the water with us, and these two didn’t hesitate.

Suji and David brought two outfits for the session, which gave us a nice range of looks. They changed after the beach portion, switching into something a little more polished for the second half. This kind of planning helps a lot when couples want variety in their final gallery. As Hudson Valley engagement photographers, we always recommend at least one outfit change if timing allows.

After the outfit change, we kept things loose and fun. Suji and David danced together at one point. It turned into some of our favorite frames from the evening. Their comfort with each other came through in every shot. Meanwhile, the light kept shifting behind them, adding new color to each set of photos.

We circled back toward the river as the light softened even further. Suji and David waded in again, and the Hudson River caught the last bit of color from the sky. Moments like these are why we love shooting near water. As a married team, we always look for these small, unplanned bits of connection between couples.

One thing worth mentioning about Little Stony Point Park is the bugs. The trails can get buggy in the evening, especially as the light fades toward dusk. We always suggest bringing bug spray if you’re planning a sunset session here. It’s a small detail, but it makes a real difference in comfort during the shoot.

Suji and David are already looking ahead to their Garrison wedding next year. This location was a great warm up for that day. We love when couples getting married at the Garrison do their engagement photos here. The sprawling views at Little Stony Point Park feel similar to the views at the venue itself. It gave Suji and David a chance to feel more at ease in front of the camera. That comfort will carry into their wedding day too.

Little Stony Point Park sits right along the Hudson Highlands. Mountain views stretch across the river from nearly every angle. The overlook near the beach offers one of the best backdrops in the area for engagement photos. We come back to this spot often because of the mix of water, trees, and mountain. It’s a short walk from parking, and the payoff in scenery is well worth it. Few spots in the Hudson Valley offer this much variety in one location.

If you’re planning to use your photos for save the dates, timing matters. We recommend booking your engagement session within a year of your wedding date. That timeline gives you plenty of room to get the gallery back and design your cards. If save the dates aren’t a priority, there’s no rush at all. Any time leading up to your wedding works well for this. Getting comfortable in front of the camera together is really the main goal.

Suji and David’s session was so much fun from start to finish. Between the beach photos, the outfit change, and the dancing, there was never a dull moment. The hiking trail, the mountain backdrop, and the river all played their part. We’re already looking forward to their Garrison wedding next year. Sessions like this one are exactly why we love what we do.
