Foggy Little Stony Point Engagement Photo Shoot in the Rain

We fell in love with Alex and Casey’s story from the very first planning call. These two wanted an outdoor engagement session that felt authentic and natural, rain or shine. When the forecast was calling for fog and a little rain, we knew it would be an unforgettable morning. As Beacon engagement and wedding photographers, we truly live for couples like this.

Rainy Day Engagement Pictures in the Hudson Valley

A three-day stretch of rain had settled over the Hudson Valley right before the session. Nevertheless, both Alex and Casey arrived at Little Stony Point ready to embrace whatever the day brought. We always say that the best engagement pictures come from couples who bring their whole hearts. Indeed, this pair proved that belief absolutely right.

Little Stony Point Overlook on a Foggy Summer Day

We started this foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot at the top of the overlook. The view that greeted us was nothing short of spectacular that morning. Low-hanging clouds draped themselves over Storm King Mountain, creating a bright white backdrop unlike anything we have seen. Furthermore, the soft natural light filtered perfectly through the mist for beautiful engagement photos.

Hudson Valley Engagement Photography and the Drama of the Overlook

Little Stony Point’s overlook is one of our absolute favorite spots for Hudson Valley engagement photography. It offers a sense of grand scale that few other locations can match in the region. The wide-open sky and the misty river valley give pictures a cinematic, painterly quality. Additionally, the couple’s connection and chemistry stood out brilliantly against that dreamy backdrop.

How Alex and Casey Made the Overlook Their Own

Alex and Casey moved through the overlook with complete ease and real confidence. We guided them into a few intentional poses, and they made each one feel entirely their own. Their laughter and eye contact brought a warmth that no fog could dim. Therefore, this foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot gave us some of our best overlook work.

Cold Spring Views Along the Little Stony Point Trails

The trails below were our next stop in this foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot. The trail system at Little Stony Point winds through tall trees and opens to sweeping river views. We found a gorgeous stopping point with Cold Spring clearly visible across the water. The misty town reflected in the distance gave the pictures a quiet, storybook feeling.

Exploring the Wooded Sections Together in the Hudson Valley

The tree-lined portions of the trail gave us a completely different mood from the overlook. Specifically, the canopy above filtered the gray light into something soft and beautifully diffused. We paused in the trees to capture a series of quieter, more intimate moments. These trail session photos from our foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot feel tender and deeply personal.

Cold Spring as the Perfect Engagement Photography Backdrop

As Hudson Valley engagement photography specialists, we know how powerful a layered backdrop can be. The view down toward Cold Spring offers both foreground texture and a beautiful mid-river scene. Moreover, the misty atmosphere turned the familiar riverscape into something almost otherworldly and cinematic. Alex and Casey walked the trail naturally, and we captured dozens of genuine engagement pictures along the way.

Beacon Wedding Photographers at the Water’s Edge

The final leg of this foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot was the beach. We love bringing couples down to the pebbled shoreline at Little Stony Point for this kind of energy. As Beacon wedding photographers, we always encourage couples to get playful and spontaneous near the water. The wide Hudson River stretches out behind them, making every frame feel expansive and alive.

Into the Hudson River for Lifts and Dips

Alex and Casey did not hesitate for a single second at the water’s edge. They waded right into the Hudson River together, laughing through every lift and dip. The joy on their faces during those moments was completely genuine and unscripted. As a result, those engagement photos from the water rank among the most heartfelt images from the session.

Poses on the Shore with the Hudson as a Backdrop

Back on the beach, we used the rocks, river, and misty mountains to frame the couple beautifully. Our Hudson Valley engagement photography style always looks for the natural geometry in a landscape. In addition, the pebbled shoreline gave the images a textural depth that made each frame stand out. This foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot gave us some of our most striking beach pictures.

Rain or Shine Engagement Photography in the Hudson Valley

A foggy Little Stony Point engagement photo shoot creates something truly rare for adventurous couples. Little Stony Point State Park offers dramatic overlooks, wooded trails, and a stunning riverside beach all in one place. Specifically, the park rewards couples who lean into the atmosphere rather than fighting against it. Above all, Alex and Casey embodied that spirit completely, and their gallery proves every bit of it.
