Carly and Andre tied the knot and celebrated their love with a stunning wedding at the Abbey Inn & Spa. With the ceremony taking place at Manhattan College, these two then headed up to the Abbey Inn for the remainder of the wedding. Let’s take a step back and see how this whole stunning wedding day played out.
This romantic celebration started out at the Abbey Inn, with Carly and her closest friends getting ready together. We loved that Carly spent this quality time with loved ones while preparing for the big day. With her hair and makeup done on-site, Carly and her girls headed out to the balcony for some super fun bridal party photos.
One awesome thing about getting out of the city for weddings: we can use our drone! We used the drone for some video and photo footage of this romantic celebration. It’s an awesome addition to your wedding day coverage and shares a unique perspective on your special moments.
After the ladies were done getting ready, we headed over to Manhattan College for the ceremony. Manhattan College is particularly special to Carly and Andre. It’s where they went to school, where they first got together, and now, where they got married. This wonderful group of friends hopped into the limo and headed down to Riverdale, NY.
Andre awaited Carly at the altar to tie the knot. These two skipped doing a first look, leaving time after the ceremony for portraits together. There are definitely pros and cons to skipping a first look, but these two budgeted enough time into their day to make sure everything was accounted for in their wedding photography.
As New York wedding photographers, getting up to Peekskill and into Upstate NY for weddings is one of our favorite things. The Hudson Valley has so many gorgeous locations, and the Abbey Inn & Spa truly encapsulates the beauty of this neck of the woods. With sprawling views of the Hudson River, this venue with 19th-century architecture is a jaw-dropping spot for wedding photos and videos.
The ceremony was lovely, with the two sharing a kiss before making their way down the aisle. Manhattan College’s church wedding ceremony space was bright and spacious, perfect for capturing the wedding in a non-disruptive fashion. We always try and avoid using flash when possible in church ceremony settings given the intimate feeling of the occasion.
After the wedding ceremony at Manhattan College, Carly and Andre’s families gathered outside on the campus for photos. We got the family photos done quickly because the couple prepared us with every possible shot combination. Before a wedding day, we consult with couples on their shot list and ensure we don’t miss out on any combos of people. Having a list of names like this ahead of time ensures the wedding day runs smoothly.
Finally, it was time for portraits of Carly and Andre. We started on the campus where they first met and got together, and continued their wedding day portraits at the Abbey Inn & Spa. This wedding venue in Peekskill is seriously one-of-a-kind, providing one of the most beautiful photography locations on the Hudson. We attempted to be expeditious during their upstate NY wedding photos, as these two hadn’t shared a first look.
The wedding photo locations at the Abbey Inn & Spa speak for themselves. It’s a gorgeous place to host a wedding ceremony and reception. As the sun set over the Hudson, we came outside for a few more photos. One of the things that made us the most excited: being able to use our drone! We took some super fun drone shots on the property at the Abbey Inn.
As New York wedding photographers, we love getting out of the city and exploring. One the best parts about getting out of the city for upstate New York wedding photography is being able to use the drone. There are strict restrictions in the city itself, but outside there’s more flexibility for fun and creative shots.
Carly and Andre’s cocktail hour featured a prosecco wall dedicated to their sweet puppy, Jasper. The “poodle prosecco” was one of many highlights of the evening as family and friends mingled. They transitioned into the reception with sweet dances with the bride and her father, and the groom and his mother.
The dance floor went bananas at this beautiful Peekskill wedding venue! Every guest was tearing it up and celebrating this special day with the newlyweds. Then came cake cutting time, a perfect way to start closing out the evening.
Normally when doing New York wedding photography, we end the evening after the cake cutting is all done and there’s nothing but the dance floor left. We always want to get coverage of the dance floor when people are fresh and vibrant. After a little while of this, we typically head out of the venue – you only need so many photos after a certain point.
We can’t wait to see where Carly and Andre’s wonderful adventure takes them. And in the meantime, we can’t wait to head back to the Abbey Inn & Spa! This gorgeous venue is seriously a New York wedding photographer’s dream. If you’re thinking about tying the knot about this gorgeous Peekskill wedding venue, let us know – we’d love to help capture your occasion.
