Stephanie and Chris got married on a rainy day in Babylon, New York. This chilly winter day was not the wedding day they’d initially planned, but it was an amazing one. Switching plans at the very last minute, these two had an incredible Long Island wedding in Argyle Park, Babylon.
We started the day at Stephanie and Chris’s old apartment. They were in the process of moving into a new home together, so getting ready in this apartment was the perfect way to start saying goodbye to their space. As Stephanie did her makeup, we photographed the details of the day. It’s important to us to photograph things like bridal shoes, any jewelry, rings, stationery, and the dress. These little things will be remembered down the line in the detail photos.
Stephanie had so much joy and positivity while getting ready for her wedding day. It was not the Brooklyn wedding that she had initially envisioned, but heading out to Long Island for wedding photography was an absolute treat. She brought all the smiles on the wedding morning.
We then headed to a park to do a first look with Stephanie’s father. We shot this emotional moment in a pocket of time without the rain. Right near Argyle Park in Babylon was a beautiful location with weeping willows and a cute little bridge. We loved photographing their reactions to seeing each other for the first time.
They then made their way over to the wedding ceremony site at Argyle Park. This public park requires a permit to get married. Although it was a rainy day on the forecast, Stephanie and Chris make sure to obtain a permit just in case. You always want to make sure you have the appropriate permits for your New York micro-wedding. No matter the size, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
The wedding party lined up and ascended the aisle. With Chris awaiting Stephanie with a massive smile on his face, it was time for them to tie the knot. Stephanie made her way up the aisle, and these two saw each other for the first time of their ceremony.
Rev Samora officiated the ceremony on this rainy Long Island wedding day. It was an emotional tribute to the couple’s relationship with a personalized ceremony. We love capturing weddings with her awesome officiating. It turned out we’d just seen her at a wedding the weekend prior. It’s a small world!
After they exchanged their vows and sealed it with a kiss, it was time to get the celebration started! We took some family photos while the rain was holding off. As it began to come down a little quicker go away took the remaining wedding party photos under the gazebo. Thankfully, on this rainy, there was cover for these two to take wedding day photos. Their wedding party was good sports, and everybody was just so happy for Stephanie and Chris.
The group then gathered by the tent set up for a quick toast. This super sweet moment, delivered by Stephanie’s father, was a touching tribute to this couple’s resilience. These two then cut the cake and sent their guests on their way. After the traditions, it was time for their Long Island wedding photos.
Even though it was raining, we decided to make the most of the day. We headed back to the park where Stephanie and her dad had the first look. There are some lovely willow trees and a bridge to accent the photos.
We use clear umbrellas to make sure that our couples stay dry and stylish. Clear umbrellas are the perfect option for a rainy wedding day in New York. Make sure to get these umbrellas if there’s any chance of rain on your wedding day forecast. You’ll want these for extra light in for photos that are perfect to see your faces.
We then drove up to Islip Grange Park, closer to where Stephanie and Chris moved to. Starting their next chapter by saying goodbye to Babylon New York was the perfect sendoff. We went to Sayville Grange Historical Park Long Island and took romantic photos at an old chapel. It gave them the feeling of a classic, iconic wedding day set up even though the original plans got canceled.
We then had them walk among the beautiful trees and grounds of this location for Wedding Photos. These two were good sports despite the rainy day. We always want to make sure our couples are comfortable above all else. Since they didn’t have a reception to go to after, they were down to get their hair and outfits wet.
We ended up finishing a wedding shoot on Long Island with some extra rainy photos. The downpour started, and it was time to wrap, but we had to get just a couple more pictures with them first. You can see those photos throughout this post — were they worth it? We think so. They loved these rainy Long Island wedding photos.
If you’re thinking about getting married on Long Island, there are a few things to remember. First, look at the weather forecast predictions for your date. Also, make sure that you obtain the necessary permits if you’re getting married in a public area. You should, as well, adhere to any noise ordinances and local guidelines. It’s essential to be respectful of the space if you’re getting married in a public area or private residence.
As New York wedding photographers, we love traveling to Long Island. It’s one of our favorite spots to do weddings. There are so many beautiful spaces to take photos outside the city. Let us know what you’re thinking because we’d love to scout locations with you.
