Grace and Sebastian had a beautiful and quintessential New York City wedding celebration. We were so honored to capture this emotional day that these two waited so long for. Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral was the most perfect setting for their classic and timeless wedding ceremony. Additionally, the Houston Hall wedding and reception venue was the most perfect location to throw a party for all of their loved ones afterward.
The day started at the NOMO Soho where the couple got ready. Grace had taken the penthouse to get ready with her bridesmaids and loved ones. This was a spacious and beautiful spot with nearly 360º views of the New York City skyline. A perfect place for getting ready photos, they wanted to use the penthouse terrace for their photos as much as possible.
The couple shared a first look facing downtown Manhattan on the terrace. With the Freedom Tower in the background, the lighting was perfect for their special moment. Before their Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding, they wanted to get a first look done. This would give the couple lots of time during cocktail hour and reception to spend with family and friends. It’s not very common for couples who are having church ceremonies to have first looks, but we love it when they decide to. As New York wedding photographers, it’s important to us that couples spend as much time having genuine moments with their friends and family as possible.
We then took the couple around Soho as New York wedding photographers capturing candid moments. The old architecture fit the theme of this day perfectly. It was an absolute breeze taking photos with these two since they’d already done an engagement session with us. When we first took their engagement pictures on the Brooklyn Bridge, it was almost two years prior – way before their big day. Since then, they had taken our advice and applied it to this incredible life moment for the most magical wedding photography around New York.
As a team, we started near the Ralph Lauren Soho store. This street has some classic white architecture that is just beautiful for clean and bright wedding photography. We then made our way over to Prince Street and took lovely photos on the way to their Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding in New York. It was important that we capture the essence of this lovely neighborhood, and this ceremony venue created the perfect opportunity.
When we arrived at Old St. Patrick’s, we knew this day would be special and emotional and that our cameras wouldn’t just be capturing one side of Grace and Sebastian: we had to capture every angle on this beautiful day. Our emotions skyrocketed as we watched Grace walk down the aisle on her father’s arm toward Sebastian, who awaited with pure joy as he watched his beautiful bride walk towards him in such an iconic New York location! Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral has been standing tall since 1878 and has so much history within its walls it was the perfect location for this iconic NYC wedding photography. Old St. Patrick’s is known for its incredible arches and architecture that make it the perfect place to capture classic wedding photography in New York City.
One thing we love about Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral weddings is the high ceilings in this impressive space. This iconic ceremony venue features stunning natural light in the church itself. We also love the accents of the stained glass and other decor that is native to the church. Plus, Soho is a fantastic neighborhood to get married and take wedding photos within.
After Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, we took family and wedding party photos in Soho. There are some great side streets that have low traffic for intimate New York wedding photos. Since they were having a Houston Hall wedding reception in a beer hall, they wanted to have natural light for family photos first.
Despite the traditional church chosen for their ceremony, they went with Houston Hall’s grand beer hall as a less traditional venue for their reception. That being said, it ended up being the perfect event space for their wedding night. Houston Hall weddings can be hosted in this spacious room filled with exposed brick and vintage details. It’s a unique space that is absolutely perfect for rustic, charming occasions like Grace and Sebastian’s wedding.
For couples who love craft beer, this open space is perfect for a magical wedding reception venue. With real lit candles and flowers adorning the space, the brick walls created an absolutely beautiful setup that we couldn’t have imagined in our own wildest dreams. Simply Styled Events, the wedding planner, made the process seamless and created the best night for Grace and Sebastian. Even having the guests move from one location to the other was easy enough. We can’t recommend having an event planner like this team more for days like this.
Once their Houston Hall wedding reception began, we couldn’t stop photographing it! Houston Hall has some stunning woodwork and ceilings that made for incredible New York City wedding photography. It is an amazing venue with great details. The lighting at Houston Hall is low but bright enough for fun detail shots.
Having an open spaced floor plan for a reception venue can make for a lot more fun than a typical banquet hall. A dance floor was set up with a beautiful floral piece overhanging, which felt like an absolute dream at this Houston Hall wedding. Grace and Sebastian enjoyed cocktail hour appetizers, which is important as we want couples to celebrate on their actual wedding day. This absolute dream venue in the heart of the village had attentive service, an open bar, and customizable menus. It definitely helped that there was good music to accompany the special celebration at this big venue.
When the dance floor opened, guests raved about the best wedding they’d ever been to. A friend commented on the incredibly perfect wedding venue for Grace and Sebastian’s celebrations. This unique venue on Houston St also had a photo booth, which family raved about and guests loved. This wedding was a dream as New York wedding photographers. Even though we’re there capturing special candid wedding memories, we also love when couples have a photo booth to add to their lively celebrations.
At Grace and Sebastian’s Houston Hall wedding, there wasn’t much natural light in the venue since it took place at night. That being said, at a place like this, who needs natural light? We loved being able to explore lighting for the couple’s dance floor and amazing reception at this venue. While guests danced, we had a ton of fun taking beautiful wedding day photos at this Manhattan event space.
When it comes to your search while planning on a venue, Houston Hall wedding receptions can be a dream. The space is also great for a ceremony optionally in the space where Grace and Sebastian had a dance floor. This is the absolute dream venue for couples who want a bit of a rustic edge to their New York City wedding day. You can also have plated or family style dinner, making Houston Hall weddings a versatile and unique option.
The wedding venue assistance was great and allowed for the couple to have a perfect wedding day. This dream venue in NYC is one that we can’t wait to come back and photograph. To get the best wedding photos, you’ll need to have fun and lively wedding photographers to help capture the celebrations. For couples who love craft beers and good times, we’re excited to capture your big day.
We’ve been lucky to have been able to capture some incredible wedding memories for our favorite couples. Sometimes we have a couple who aren’t sure how they want to celebrate their big day and that’s where our expertise comes in handy. Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral is a great NYC Wedding Ceremony location but it’s also not too far from the Houston Hall wedding reception venue.
It was a beautiful Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding ceremony and Houston Hall wedding reception. You could feel the love in the room as soon as Grace and Sebastian stepped through the door. The Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding ceremony was beautiful under the bright white light of hundreds of candles, and the Houston Hall wedding reception was what everyone dreams the first dance should be at their wedding. Everything about this Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral wedding ceremony and Houston Hall wedding reception were perfect, so you can understand why we loved it as NYC wedding photographers.
