We loved capturing this unique 501 Union wedding in Brooklyn. This Gowanus wedding venue is super unique, mixing industrial vibes with a modern and fresh feeling. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, this Gowanus event space is a versatile and fun place to tie the knot and take amazing pictures.
Lara and Stephen had a DIY wedding which is not a task for the faint of heart. We were so impressed with their unique decor and the ideas for their big day. This event space in NYC makes it easy as well. 501 Union weddings are basically already decorated between their cocktail lounge, ceremony space, and reception room.
These two decided not to do a first look, saving a little time after the ceremony for portraits. The first time they saw each other was as Lara was walking up the aisle. This moment is usually pretty different for couples, regardless of whether or not they’ve done a first look. It’s a special moment that reminds them that this is really the big moment.
As Catskills wedding photographers, we love the space at 501 Union weddings. There are three main rooms to have a versatile event at this stunning modern event space in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Located across the street from their sister venue, the Green Building, these two spaces have totally different vibes. We love the mix of retro and modern at this romantic New York wedding venue.
Lara got ready for the day in the bridal suite at the Gowanus wedding venue. This room is super vintage feeling and is a fun space to start the day. We also took a few portraits in the reception room, and did a first look with her bridesmaids. Since this was a Thursday wedding and the Green Building was empty, the groomsmen waited over at the sister venue until it was time to get these two married.
501 Union is a bespoke Brooklyn wedding venue perfect for intimate weddings and slightly larger gatherings. The ceremony space is a converted greenhouse, and lets in beautiful natural light for the wedding itself. As Lara came up the aisle, Stephen saw her for the first time under his DIY floral fixtures.
After these two recited their vows, they sealed it with a kiss. Having given their guests flower petals for an exit ahead of time, it was time for some creative wedding photos. Their family and friends threw petals as these two came back down the aisle. We loved this unique touch to their 501 Union wedding.
Next came Lara and Stephen’s cocktail hour and reception. The ceremony room was converted into a space for their buffet and caricature artist during the reception. This venue’s unique Modo chandeliers add some wonderful pizzazz to your wedding photography at 501 Union. The couple had a band for entertainment during the reception.
Lara and Stephen had some loving speeches from family members during their wedding reception. Although they had a fair amount of guests at their celebration, the event still felt intimate with these loving touches. After speeches were over, it was time for this group to party.
There was a ton of dancing and good times at this Gowanus wedding. We loved the energy of this party, and as Beacon wedding photography professionals, had so much fun capturing the dance floor at this reception. With the hanging string lights featured, they made for an extra beautiful set of reception photos from this 501 Union wedding.
Finally, these two ended the night with an afterparty at Melody Lanes. While we don’t typically do afterparty coverage, these two wanted these final moments captured at the Brooklyn bowling alley. We love the unique idea of having this fun activity to wind down your wedding night.
Once a classic car restoration shop, this venue under the Gowanus Hospitality Group is one of the most unique Brooklyn wedding and event venues. From the reception hall to the covered atrium, this is a seriously gorgeous space for private events. When you’re wedding planning in NYC, consider a 501 Union wedding for a unique and creative experience.
As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we love the unique challenges that this event space presents. When it comes to the big day, we want to capture your 501 Union wedding as naturally and beautifully as possible. It’s important to us that you have a comfortable and natural experience.
