Ashley and Kris were married in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. This intimate MyMoon wedding was full of personality and fun times. We loved documenting the memories of this special couple. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, MyMoon is one of our favorite event venues. It is so unique and really speaks to different unique couples.
based in the Hudson Valley, Ashley had reached out to us from Oregon where she and Kris live. She wanted to capture some of that quintessential New York City in her wedding photography. It was an honor to capture beautiful photos for this loving couple.
We typically meet our couples ahead of time at their engagement photo session, but in this case, their wedding day was the first time we met. It was a joy to meet our “pen-pals” that we’d been helping to plan with for so long. Their beautiful wedding panned out gorgeously in a way we couldn’t have imagined!
We started the day at the William Vale hotel. In Ashley’s room, there was a hawk sitting on the window cell. It was bizarre to walk in and see a bird of prey staring into the bridal suite. Everybody just rolled with it, and it turns out it’s not the first sighting at the hotel!
Ashley was getting ready with her bridesmaids. They were sharing mimosas and laughs to start the day. The William Vale is a beautiful setting to start your wedding morning. There’s a gorgeous view of the New York City skyline from your window. As the flowers got dropped off by Rosehip Floral, we were so happy to see these talented florists working on this Brooklyn wedding.
We took detail shots of Ashley’s dress, jewelry, rings, flowers, and other special details of the day. The part of the morning where brides are getting their makeup done, is the best time to capture detail shots. Grabbing them all during a quiet, calm moment in the morning is perfect, so we don’t miss a thing. On a wedding morning, we typically have a wedding party member help gather any details we may be missing for these photos.
Meanwhile, in the guys’ room, they all got ready together with Kris. As a wedding gift, Kris gave them all superhero tie pins. This was an awesome, intimate detail we made sure to capture. At weddings with such personal gifts and details like these, we never want to miss a moment. These guys had a great time getting ready together and hyping up Kris for the big day.
Once everyone was ready, Kris headed down to the first look location. They decided on Marsha P Johnson State Park. We ended up by the water with a beautiful Manhattan skyline view. It was the perfect place for these two to see each other for the first time. They had been coming in from out of state for this wedding, so incorporating that iconic New York backdrop was the perfect touch.
After seeing each other for the first time, we took a few photos in the park. On this chilly winter day, we decided to work our way back to the William Vale hotel. It gets blustery in this park, especially during the colder season! During the walk back, we saw a few places to stop for photos.
Williamsburg is full of options for wedding photo locations. There is, of course, Marsha P Johnson State Park. But there is also Domino Park which is right nearby. You also have tons of artsy walls and beautiful streets to take photos of. We love shooting unique Brooklyn wedding photo locations in this neighborhood. As we made our way back to the hotel, we decided on a mural just down the street from the William Vale hotel for the group photos.
While we waited in the lobby of the hotel for the rest of the wedding party, we took a few more bridal portraits of Ashley. We had to capture her gorgeous bouquet and wedding style. Once everyone was ready to go, we ventured out into the cold. This team of troopers was great at keeping spirits high on this winter wedding day in Brooklyn.
We took the group photos on two different painted walls. The first was painted red. This made for an awesome backdrop against primarily dark colors that the wedding party was wearing. There was a lot of green involved in the wedding party looks, which was found out perfectly by the rub. We then took some super fun photos on the street art wall right next to this. This was great as a total change-up for photos.
The whole crew then headed over to MyMoon to start the celebrations. We took the family photos at MyMoon. Wrangling the family into the ceremony space, we made sure to have enough time with the family members.
Ahead of the wedding day, we always ask couples to provide us a list of people they would like photographed. That way, we’re not guessing names or organizations of people. We also like to have a member of the wedding party help with the wrangling. It’s not always needed but is always helpful.
After the group photos, this crew retreated into the bridal suite. MyMoon has a beautiful on-site bridal suite for couples to relax before and after their wedding ceremony. We love this all-inclusive intimate wedding venue in Brooklyn for so many reasons. Having everything easily compacted into one space is definitely up there on the list.
Ashley ascended the aisle and this intimate micro-wedding ceremony in Brooklyn began. Their actual ceremony was short and sweet, involving a handfasting ceremony. We loved capturing the intimate process of this Celtic tradition.
We love the space at MyMoon, with exposed brick walls, wooden floors, and a unique outdoor ceremony space. A renovated boiler room, this venue is a Brooklyn wedding photographer’s dream. Given that it was winter, the space was enclosed in glass. It’s the perfect way to let light in and have an outdoor ceremony in NYC while still remaining warm.
After they said their vows and tied the knot, it was time for the party to start. Their families had never met each other, so this was the first time they had ever met. This was a unique experience to capture as everybody got along so well.
After a quick cooldown, these two entered the room for the first time as a married couple. They did their first dance, followed by dances with loved ones. The smile on Ashley’s face while dancing was unforgettable.
Given that MyMoon is an all-inclusive wedding venue in New York City, it was time for the seated dinner to start. Ashley and Kris chose to have a sit-down meal in the same room they had hosted the ceremony.
The catering at MyMoon is absolutely fantastic. Their service is timely and everything is kept to a proper schedule. We love photographing wedding receptions at this incredible Williamsburg wedding venue.
As the sun set during this final reception, it began to snow outside. We wanted to make sure that this couple got a few photos in the snow. We took out our equipment and tested it in the snow before bringing a couple out into the cold. It was definitely chilly, but these Brooklyn wedding photos will be the ones that last a lifetime.
We love photographing MyMoon in Williamsburg. This wedding venue is perfect for any season. We’ve shot many winter weddings at this Brooklyn wedding venue before. This one is a great example of how the space works for a micro-wedding.
