When this couple decided to move their December wedding up to September, we were totally gwedding planner, or at least event coordination, is a massively helpful thing when planning a backyard wedding on Long Islandame for it. They pulled together their whole wedding day in a super short period of time, making for an awesome Long Island backyard wedding. We were so impressed with the way they blended their family traditions to make a combined culture Greek wedding in New York.
Everything was pulled together seamlessly by an incredible team of vendors. Philip Stone Caterers did an incredible job with both catering and event coordination, handling all rentals and dinnerware. Magic Moments did an incredible job as both DJ and emcee, keeping the wedding party lively all night long.
When planning a backyard wedding, couples must take plenty of variables into consideration. Will there be live music? What are the local noise ordinances? How will it be catered? Kristi and Dino’s team rallied behind them to execute the backyard wedding ideas of their dreams. Having a wedding planner, or at least event coordination, is a massively helpful thing when planning a backyard wedding on Long Island.
While getting ready, we went to the bride and groom’s respective spaces to get ready. The guys were celebrating together with a drink as they put on their suits. Dino gave a toast to his nearest and dearest for joining him on their wedding morning. Dino wore The Black Tux at Nordstrom and wore a classic, timeless suit.
Over where the ladies got ready, Kristi did a first look with her bridesmaids. Their reactions were adorable as she stepped out to show them her look for the first time. Wearing a gorgeous dress from Floravere, Kristi completely rocked a casual backyard wedding with timeless glamour. With hair and makeup all set, we took some bridal portraits and photos with the bridesmaids before heading over to the St. Markella Greek Orthodox Church in Wantagh, NY.
The first ceremony was a Greek Orthodox church wedding, with family members gathered around. This intimate ceremony was important to the couple; they wanted to have both this religious traditional ceremony and a less-formal ceremony on the same day. Greek Orthodox wedding ceremonies have elaborate traditions that were absolutely beautiful to capture.
After the formal marriage, we took photos of Dino’s family in the space. The wedding party then headed over to take wedding photos at a park in Massapequa. We had such a fun time capturing these group photos on the big day. It was a perfect occasion for the couple and their loved ones to let loose and enjoy each other’s company.
We loved capturing this Long Island wedding photography in locations we’d never photographed before. The waterfront was sparkling on such a beautiful fall day, and Kristi and Dino were feeling adventurous. These two decided to climb down onto the rocks for romantic waterfront wedding photos on Long Island.
Forgoing a traditional wedding venue, these two held their second ceremony and the reception in a family backyard. Their yard was converted from a backyard with a pool to a stunning event space, with a platform covering the swimming pool. Surrounded by family and friends, this special Long Island backyard wedding was an incredible night.
Kristi and Dino hadn’t imagined having their wedding at home, but some string lights and florals made for an excellent ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The backyard wedding ceremony space was quickly converted into a dance floor, which attendees took full advantage of.
As NYC wedding photographers, we’re happy to travel to Long Island and all around the northeast. Photographing unique weddings like this one outside the city is such a dream for us! We love capturing weddings in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and beyond, but there’s just something so wonderful about taking wedding photos on Long Island.
This backyard wedding in Massapequa was a stunning night to remember. These timeless, candid wedding photos are some incredible memories that will live on through Kristi and Dino’s marriage – and beyond! We loved taking part in this Long Island wedding. Thinking of hosting a backyard wedding of your own? Let us know – we’d love to take your photos!
