We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
We spent a late summer evening with Erica and Riley for their beach engagement photo shoot at Little Stony Point Park in Cold Spring, NY. This queer couple brought so much easy joy and laughter to their session. We planned the whole evening around their Hudson Valley engagement session, chasing golden hour light from the water up to the trail. By the time we wrapped, we had a full range of moments, from playful to quiet and romantic. As Hudson Valley wedding and engagement photographers, this is definitely one of our favorite locations.

Little Stony Point Park sits right along the Hudson River in Cold Spring, NY. The park offers a rocky beach, a wooded trail, and sweeping river views. As Beacon engagement photographers, we return here often because it gives couples so much variety in one session. We began Erica and Riley’s beach engagement photo shoot right at the water’s edge, where the late summer light was soft and warm.
Erica and Riley leaned into each other, laughing between poses on the sand. Their comfort with each other made the early frames feel completely natural. The golden hour photo shoot lighting grew warmer with every passing minute. Every frame from the beach carried that same relaxed, easy energy.

After a while on the beach, we moved the couple closer to the rocks for a stronger river backdrop. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we look for spots where the water and the light work together. This is exactly why we consider Little Stony Point a top engagement session location. Few beaches in the region give us this much to work with.
Next, we guided Erica and Riley up the trail toward the overlook. The path climbs gradually through trees before opening to a wide river view. As a married team, we know this trail well from years of shooting here. We paced this Cold Spring engagement session slowly so the couple could enjoy the walk.

Once we reached the overlook, the light had turned even more golden. Riley wrapped an arm around Erica as they took in the view. We captured a mix of candid laughter and quieter, more intimate frames. This golden hour photo shoot moment became one of our favorites from the whole evening.

As Beacon engagement photographers, we love pulling back to show the full landscape. We pulled back first to show the couple against the river below. Then we moved in close for detail shots of their hands and expressions. Both approaches added real depth to their engagement session gallery.

As the sun continued to set, we made our way back down toward a patch of tall grass near the trailhead. The grass caught the last of the golden light beautifully. Erica and Riley walked hand in hand through it, unposed and relaxed. This final stretch of their beach engagement photo shoot gave us some of the strongest images of the night.

We finished the session as the light faded into soft blue tones. Erica and Riley were still laughing together, energy high even after a full evening. We always tell couples that pre-wedding photos work best when the location matches their personalities. The trail at Little Stony Point offers open beach and river overlooks in under a mile.

That range is part of why we consider it the best engagement photo location in the Hudson Valley. If you are planning an engagement session in Cold Spring or nearby, we would love to help you find the right spot. Every couple brings their own energy, and our job is to capture it honestly. Erica and Riley trusted us with their evening, and we cannot wait to be back at Little Stony Point again soon.
