We are seriously obsessed with how cute this photo shoot was. We’d never been on the rowboats before these photos, and definitely wanted to make use of Central Park’s lake.

How to Do Engagement Photos with the Rowboats

To be able to take rowboat engagement photos, you have to rent out a boat from the boathouse. When doing this, you’ll have a designated time slot in which you can take the boat out on the lake. It’s definitely worth it, as Christine and Arnaud’s photos turned out beautifully! If you want to do photos like this, make sure you have clothing that is comfortable enough to row the boat with.

Steps to Rent a Boat in Central Park:

When you get to Central Park, head over to the boathouse. It’s close by to Bethesda Terrace, which is another beautiful spot for engagement photos. You can then rent the boat from their team. Here are some notes to keep in mind for your rental:

• Renting a boat costs $20 per hour, with a $20 cash deposit. Any additional time is $5 per 15 minutes.
• The boats can hold up to 4 people, but for Central Park rowboat engagement photos, it would just be the couple + 1 photographer.
• Lifejackets are provided by the boathouse in case they are needed.
• Reservations in advance are not accepted, so you’ll have to go around the time they open to avoid crowds in your photos.
