Kara and Dave got married on a beautiful spring day by Jane’s Carousel. Just around the corner from the coronavirus pandemic restrictions lifting, these two had a beautiful day with close family members and friends. Since they had already changed their original wedding plans to a more intimate setting, they decided to just stick with it despite the updated rules.
Intimate Wedding at Jane’s Carousel in NYC
Though it wasn’t necessarily a traditional wedding day format, they had a ton of fun celebrating their love story in their personal way. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park is one of our favorite areas to capture. There is so much versatility in this beautiful location in Brooklyn, and having a wedding ceremony there makes it all the more special.
Getting Ready Wedding Photos at the Gild Hall Hotel
We started out the day at a hotel on the Lower East Side where Kara got ready with close members of her family and Dave got ready at the carousel since the Lower East Side is such a quick hop over to Dumbo. This hotel was the perfect choice for Kara’s bright and fun getting ready photos.
Skipping the First Look for this Intimate Wedding at Jane’s Carousel
She and Dave did not want to do a first look on their wedding day, given that it was such an intimate celebration and they just wanted to see each other for the first time at their ceremony. We loved how romantic these two made their day, despite the strange times going on in the world.
Jane’s Carousel Wedding with NYC Skyline Backdrop
Their wedding ceremony had personal, beautiful vows. With the Manhattan Bridge as their backdrop, these two tied the knot. After more than a decade together, it was time to finally seal their forever. Nothing could have been more romantic than featuring the gorgeous city they lived in as the backdrop to their ceremony.

As wedding photographers based in the Hudson Valley, we love capturing photos in this particular spot. You have great views of both the Manhattan Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge. Plus, there are great views of Lower Manhattan to top it all off.
Tying the Knot at Jane’s Carousel with the Brooklyn Bridge View
Typically, when couples get hitched at Jane’s Carousel, they opt to have the carousel behind them. In this case, they found it to be more special to have the city backdrop. It was also very beautiful for their families who came from out of town.
Family Wedding Photography in DUMBO, Brooklyn
After the ceremony, we took family photos on the New York City skyline. We’ve said this before, but we can’t say it enough: taking photos by Jane’s Carousel for close friends and family is a seriously rewarding location, you feature the beautiful Manhattan skyline and the Brooklyn Bridge as well.

One of the most fun parts of the day: the group carousel ride! All wedding guests hopped onto Jane’s Carousel for some beautiful photos and good times. Kara and Dave let loose for a super fun kick-off to their marriage.
Wedding Portraits in Brooklyn Bridge Park
After family photo combinations were done, it was just Kara and Dave left to photograph. Taking couples portraits in Dumbo was easy as they already had done their engagement shoot in the area as well. It made for a perfect time because they know exactly where they wanted to take photos. These two were set on certain locations, and it meant that we took photos very quickly in the area.
Wedding Reception Photos at Gran Electrica
We then headed over to Gran Electrica for the intimate wedding reception. The couple had reserved a table outside, setting a beautiful atmosphere for the wedding reception. Gran Electrica is an awesome Mexican restaurant in DUMBO featuring amazing dishes.
