Hudson Valley Engagement Photo Shoot at Horse Barn

There is something truly magical about photographing couples in a space that means the world to them. For Lauren and Adam, that space was a charming horse barn in the heart of the Hudson Valley. Their Hudson Valley engagement photo shoot felt deeply personal, emotional, and wonderfully joyful from start to finish.

As Beacon wedding photographers, we love when our couples choose meaningful locations. That kind of connection always brings something extra to the images. For Lauren, Sly Fox Run Farm is more than just a barn; it’s a part of her heart.

We kicked off this Hudson Valley engagement photo shoot with some gentle warm-up shots in the tall grass surrounding the barn. It was a golden summer afternoon, and the sunlight hit just right. The soft glow gave everything a timeless, dreamy feel.

Right away, we could see how much love and ease Lauren and Adam shared. They’re the kind of couple who naturally melt into each other. Our style of Hudson Valley engagement photography leans into those unposed, candid moments. We gently guide couples, but we always let them be themselves.

After a bit of time in the grass, Lauren went to grab Lucy, her gorgeous horse. This was such an exciting part of the shoot. You could see her light up as soon as Lucy came out. Incorporating pets or animals you love into your session is a great way to make the experience feel unique and grounded.

Engagement Session with Beloved Horse

We took some photos of Lauren and Lucy together, just the two of them in the sunlight. Then Adam joined in. As photographers, we want these moments to feel honest and easy. With Lucy in the frame, we got some truly tender and unforgettable photos.

After a few portraits with Lucy, Lauren even hopped on for a few photos riding her. We loved the movement and energy this brought to the shoot. The joy on Lauren’s face was so real. Adam’s smile watching her said everything.

We encourage you to choose a space that means something to you. That could be your home, your favorite trail, or a horse barn like Lauren’s. We’re here to guide you toward locations if you’re unsure. But we also love when couples show us their world.

We also planned the session around Lucy’s needs, giving her time to warm up to us. With any animal companion, we always build in flexibility. That way, everyone feels at ease.
