Hannah and Stephen tied the knot in the Upper West Side of Manhattan… in the middle of a snowstorm. We love winter weddings in New York because you never know what you’re going to get. This Riverside Park wedding was one for the books. Despite the wild weather, these two fought through the cold and said ‘I Do’.
A First Look in the Upper West Side of Manhattan
Before their intimate Riverside Park wedding in a snowstorm, Hannah and Stephen had a romantic first look. They chose a spot in the Upper West Side right by the entrance to the park. There were beautiful, large stone walls that made for a lovely backdrop. We always love doing first looks, even when the wedding is super intimate.

After we took some portraits of these two, it was time to get them married. They had their Riverside wedding ceremony under a gazebo in the park. The snow came down around them as they said their vows in this intimate ceremony. If there’s one thing we love about New York in the winter, it’s the unexpected snowstorms.

Since it was a chilly winter wedding, these two dressed accordingly. Hannah had a vintage fur stole to cover her shoulders in the cold weather. Stephen wore a scarf and overcoat on top of his suit. We loved these practical additions to their wedding attire, as snowy weddings can be difficult to account for. Plus, Hannah wore some boots under her dress to keep her feet warm.
Riverside Park Wedding Ceremony
This romantic ceremony was one for the books. We loved the way that the city was blanketed in snow. It created some stunning New York wedding photos that are so rare to have. You can’t predict when it’s going to snow in the city, after all. As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we got so lucky when it came to this snowstorm celebration.

After they said ‘I Do’, we took a few family photos before letting their loved ones go and warm up. If you’re planning on having a winter wedding, there are a few ways you can stay warm. One way would be to get HotHands hand warmers to put in gloves in between your wedding photos. Another way is to layer like Hannah and Stephen did.

These two also kept hot chocolate and tea on deck. Having warm drinks was a game changer when it came to trying not to freeze on this winter Riverside Park wedding day. We then walked around the area to take a few more photos before it was time to depart for the after party. Hannah’s beautiful flowers from Stems Brooklyn held up well, even in the chilly weather.
