Planning your session

What do I wear for My Session?

The short answer? Whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Seriously, that's it. When you feel good in what you're wearing, it shows in your photos. Whether that's a flowy dress, your favorite jeans and a cozy sweater, or the outfit you always get compliments on, wear what feels like you.

A few tips if you want them: soft, solid colors tend to photograph beautifully, especially in Hudson Valley settings like the greenery of Garrison or along the waterfront in Cold Spring. But if your family loves bold patterns or bright colors, go for it. The best photos come from people who feel like themselves, not people who dressed for someone else's Pinterest board.

For maternity sessions, form-fitting fabrics showcase your bump beautifully, but again, comfort wins. If you feel amazing in it, you'll look amazing in it.

And for the rest of the family? Coordinating is great, but matching isn't necessary. Think complementary tones rather than everyone in the exact same outfit. Let each person's personality come through.
