Frequently Asked Questions
We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
A: We’re based in Beacon, NY and shoot weddings all over the Hudson Valley, from Cold Spring and Garrison down through Rhinebeck, Hudson, and Millbrook. We also travel into the Catskills for mountain weddings and elopements. If your venue is within driving distance of the river towns or the Catskills, chances are we’ve either shot there already or would love to.
A: We do. Westchester is part of our regular coverage area alongside the Hudson Valley and Catskills, and we’ve shot at venues throughout the county. If you’re planning a Westchester wedding, reach out with your venue and we can tell you right away if we’ve been there before. Some of our favorite venues are Le Chateau, Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Tappan Hill Mansion, The Briarcliff Manor, Wainwright House, and Whitby Castle.
A: Weddings within the Hudson Valley, Catskills, and Westchester are included in our standard packages with no travel fee. For weddings further out, we’re happy to talk through travel, just reach out with your location and date. We have photographed in and around New York for years.
A: We shoot documentary style with a candid, true-to-the-day approach, we’re not big on stopping the party for forced poses. You’ll get genuine moments as they happen, mixed with a intentional portraits throughout the day. We like to give gentle guidance for your portraits, and things are little more directorial for your family photos. Once the ceremony begins, things become fly-on-the-wall for our coverage. We like to share true-to-life, natural images with color and tones that look exactly like your day felt.
A: We’re married, and we both shoot every single wedding, side by side. That means you’re not getting a lead photographer and a hired second shooter who’s never met your family. You’re getting two people who’ve been working together for years, who already know each other’s angles and instincts.
A: 8 continuous hours of coverage, two photographers, an online gallery, and a print release come standard. What varies is coverage length and add-ons like an engagement session or a second-day brunch. We’ll walk through the specifics on a call.
A: Both. We shoot film for the quieter, more timeless moments, things like getting ready, first look, the walk down the aisle, and we lean on digital for coverage that needs speed and flexibility, like the reception. Mixing the two gives your gallery a range that all-digital just doesn’t have. We shoot 35mm film, as well as medium and large format photography.
A: We can. Photography and videography combo packages are offered in the Hudson Valley and Catskills. Since we already work as a team, having us handle both means your photographer and videographer aren’t strangers bumping into each other during your first dance.
A: We work with a close knit group of second shooters and assistants to make sure larger weddings are covered smoothly. For bigger days or more complex timelines, having extra hands on deck means nothing falls through the cracks.
A: Yes, every videography package includes a third shooter dedicated to video coverage. That means you’re getting a full team focused on capturing your day from both a photo and film perspective at the same time.
A: Your final wedding film runs 4 to 6 minutes, and comes alongside a separate ceremony edit and a speeches edit. That way you have a highlight reel to share and full, unedited footage of the moments you’ll want to rewatch in full.
A: Drone coverage is available depending on venue permission, weather, and wind conditions. Some Hudson Valley and Catskills venues restrict drone use, so we’ll check ahead of time and let you know if it’s an option for your specific location.
A: Yes, we cover rehearsal dinners. If we’re not available personally, a trusted team member steps in to make sure your rehearsal dinner is still captured.
A: Sneak peeks land in your inbox within 24 hours. The full gallery takes 4-6 weeks, sometimes a little less in the off-season! We want to get photos into your hands as soon as humanly possible.
A: A typical 8-hour wedding day gallery runs between 1200-1800 fully edited images. The exact count depends on coverage length and how much is happening throughout the day, a big Catskills wedding with a full reception will naturally run higher than a smaller occasion with 50 guests. It also depends on how active our couple and their loved ones are, and how willing they are to participate in photography.
A: Yes, all delivered photos are high resolution in a digital gallery format. They’re ready for printing, sharing, or framing.
A: Yes, prints are available straight from your online gallery. You can order prints, canvases, and other products directly without needing to send out files separately.
A: Your gallery stays live for 1 year after your wedding date. We recommend downloading and backing up your favorites well before that window closes.
A: We capture elopements and micro weddings all the time in Upstate New York! Some of our favorite days have been a couple, an officiant, and a Hudson Valley overlook. We have coverage options built specifically for smaller days, not just a scaled-down version of a full wedding package.
A: We plan for it either way. Every wedding gets a rain backup shot list built in, and honestly, some of the moodiest, most beautiful images we’ve taken came out of weather nobody wanted. Rain doesn’t ruin a wedding day. It just changes the light. The Hudson Valley and Catskills can be finicky for weather forecasts, so we’re prepared for any situation.
A: Yes, engagement sessions are available as an add-on to any Hudson Valley or Catskills wedding package. Most couples use them to get comfortable in front of the camera before the wedding day, and we’ll help you pick a spot, a favorite trail, a downtown block in Beacon or Cold Spring, whatever feels like you.
A: There are a lot of great spots around the Hudson Valley for engagement photos. Little Stony Point Park, the Vanderbilt Mansion, and Stonecrop Gardens are a few of our favorites, and we’re happy to help you pick one that fits your style.
A: Engagement session pricing depends on location. Sessions in Beacon and Cold Spring start at $350, Hudson Valley locations run $650, and New York City or other cities are $950 and up.
A: Some venues, especially state parks and certain Catskills locations, require photography permits for larger productions. We’ve worked with most of the major venues in the area before and can tell you upfront if your spot needs anything special.
A: Yes, we carry a certificate of insurance and can send it directly to your venue. Most Hudson Valley and Catskills venues require this before your wedding day, so we’ll take care of getting it to them.
A: We shoot with dual slot cameras, so every image is written to two memory cards at once as it’s captured. Cards are changed frequently throughout the day, and everything is backed up to both a physical hard drive and cloud storage once we’re done.
A: Send us your date and venue through our contact form and we’ll set up a call. It’s less of an interview and more just us getting to know you and your day, and making sure we’re the right fit before anything’s official.
A: We have a close knit team of professional photographers who can step in if needed, while we still handle all the pre and post production work behind the scenes. It’s also one of the real benefits of being a two person team, since there are two of us, the odds of both being unavailable are extremely low.
A: Most of our couples reach out 9 to 14 months ahead of their date. Venues like The Roundhouse, The Garrison, The Briarcliff Manor, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns book up early, especially for Saturdays between May and October, so the earlier you lock in your date, the better your odds.
A: Yes, additional hours can always be added on, whether that’s decided ahead of time or the day of your wedding. We want your whole day covered, not just the hours in your original package.
A: Our retainer is 30% of your total package cost and secures your Hudson Valley wedding date on our calendar.
A: We do run seasonal promotions from time to time. Reach out directly and we can talk through what’s currently available for your wedding date.
A: Yes, you can find reviews from our past couples on our website and on Google. We’d rather you hear about the experience from someone who’s actually been through their wedding day with us than take our word for it.
Either way works for us! We’ll be in touch in no time at all to book in a chat with you and, yes, we’re sure Cordy and Phoebe will pop up and say hi.
