We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
There is something truly magical about winter in the Hudson Valley. The quiet of the season wraps everything in stillness. When Caroline and Ernesto reached out about their engagement session, we knew it would be special. They wanted photos that captured the raw beauty of the season. Little Stony Point engagement sessions are always stunning in any weather. However, a fresh blanket of snow takes everything to the next level.
We admire couples who embrace winter for their engagement photos. Caroline and Ernesto bundled up in gorgeous wool coats for the occasion. She looked stunning in her belted gray coat and sleek black booties. He matched perfectly in his navy peacoat. These two were absolute troopers throughout the chilly afternoon. Their willingness to brave the cold resulted in truly breathtaking images.
We began the session at the overlook at Little Stony Point. This is one of our favorite spots for Hudson Valley engagement photography. The view from the top is absolutely worth the climb. We could see the Hudson River stretching out below us. Ice was breaking up along the shoreline, creating incredible texture. The snow-covered mountains in the background added dramatic depth. Cold Spring and the surrounding Hudson Highlands looked like a winter wonderland.
As Beacon wedding photographers, we love chasing beautiful light. Winter afternoons offer something special in this region. The sun sits lower in the sky and creates soft, golden tones. Caroline and Ernesto glowed in the afternoon warmth. Their connection was so natural and easy to capture. Every time they looked at each other, genuine joy radiated between them.
After capturing the overlook views, we headed down the trail. The bare winter trees created beautiful patterns against the sky. This part of the engagement session felt intimate and romantic. Snow crunched beneath our feet as we explored. Little Stony Point offers so many varied backdrops. One moment you have sweeping river views. The next, you are surrounded by peaceful forest.
Our approach to Hudson Valley engagement photography focuses on real emotion. We love when couples forget the camera is there. Caroline’s laughter rang out through the quiet woods. Ernesto whispered something that made her smile so wide. These are the moments we live for as photographers. Little Stony Point engagement sessions allow us to capture this authenticity.
The trail eventually leads down to the rocky beach. This is where Scenic Hudson has preserved such beautiful shoreline. The beach was covered in snow and ice when we arrived. It created an otherworldly atmosphere for photos. Caroline and Ernesto were up for anything at this point. They climbed on rocks and walked along the frozen shore. The Hudson River sparkled behind them in every frame.
One of our favorite images from this engagement session happened naturally. Ernesto scooped Caroline up in his arms without any prompting. She cradled his face in her hands and looked down at him. The love between them was palpable. These spontaneous moments always become the most treasured photos. This is exactly why we love documentary-style engagement photography.
Planning a Little Stony Point engagement session in winter requires preparation. The trails can be snowy, icy, or slushy depending on conditions. Bring shoes you feel comfortable walking in. We also recommend bringing layers you can add and remove. This makes the experience much more enjoyable. You can warm up between locations and then remove layers for photos. This beautiful park is worth the extra effort.
After your engagement session, extend the romance with dinner nearby. Head into Cold Spring for a delicious sandwich at Claude’s. Alternatively, drive over to Beacon for an evening out. The Wild offers incredible seasonal fare. Lyonshare is another fantastic option. As Beacon wedding photographers, we know all the best local spots.
We absolutely adore photographing couples at Little Stony Point. The Hudson Highlands provide such a stunning backdrop year-round. Winter engagement sessions here hold a special place in our hearts. The quiet beauty creates intimate, romantic images. Caroline and Ernesto’s session reminded us why we love this work.

Our documentary approach means we capture your relationship authentically. We guide you through natural moments rather than stiff poses. Every Little Stony Point engagement session we photograph feels unique. The location offers endless possibilities for creative imagery. We love exploring this special place with each couple we work with.
