We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
Some mornings remind us exactly why we love this work so much. Jiwon and Evan scheduled an engagement session at Vanderbilt Mansion to celebrate their upcoming wedding. As Hudson Valley engagement photographers, we were absolutely thrilled to photograph them in this stunning setting. Their engagement photos are a beautiful example of what Hudson Valley engagement photography can look like.

Hyde Park is one of the most beautiful destinations in the entire Hudson Valley. The grounds are expansive, peaceful, and endlessly photogenic, especially early in the morning. Moreover, the estate offers a remarkable variety of backdrops all in one location. We love recommending Hyde Park to couples who want a truly stunning setting for their engagement pictures.
As Beacon wedding photographers, we plan each engagement session at Vanderbilt Mansion and beyond with real care. We arrive with a loose route in mind, but we stay flexible to follow the light wherever it leads. Additionally, we focus on building a relaxed atmosphere so that couples feel completely comfortable. That comfort is what turns good engagement photos into truly great ones.

We arrived right as the park opened for Jiwon and Evan’s pre-wedding portrait session. The light at that early hour was soft, warm, and perfectly suited for intimate photography. Furthermore, the grounds were nearly empty, which gave us the freedom to move at our own pace. It is exactly the kind of setting that makes Hudson Valley engagement photography so rewarding.
We started our morning near the grand historic houses that anchor the upper grounds of the estate. The architecture there is striking and offers a beautiful contrast against the open morning sky. In addition, the stone details and sweeping staircases give engagement pictures a timeless, editorial feel. Jiwon and Evan were such natural, joyful subjects for an engagement session at Vanderbilt Mansion.

Next, we guided Jiwon and Evan toward the formal garden on the lower part of the property. The garden is lush, well-maintained, and full of rich spring greenery at this time of year. As a result, it offered a layered, romantic backdrop for their pre-wedding portraits. Their engagement photos from the garden have a warmth and softness that we absolutely love.

This year’s cherry blossoms had a difficult season throughout the Hudson Valley. They bloomed early and got hit by a cold snap, so many had already faded before our shoot. Nevertheless, finding those remaining blossoms is part of what makes an engagement session at Vanderbilt Mansion so magical. Those soft floral backgrounds added a truly dreamy quality to their engagement pictures.

Sometimes, nature surprises you in the best possible way. The greenery at Vanderbilt Mansion was lush and vibrant throughout the entire property this season. Likewise, the warm morning light filtering through the trees created a glowing, romantic atmosphere around every turn. Jiwon and Evan’s engagement photos had a natural warmth that we will always treasure.
Finally, we made our way to the stream near the edge of the property to close out the session. The sound of the water and the dappled light created an intimate, peaceful setting. As Beacon wedding photographers, we love wrapping up a session in a natural spot like this one. It was the perfect final chapter to a beautiful engagement session at Vanderbilt Mansion.
Days like this one remind us how lucky we are to do Hudson Valley engagement photography for a living. Jiwon and Evan were such a genuine, joyful couple to spend a morning alongside in Hyde Park. Their love for one another came through in every single frame we captured together. We are so grateful to have been part of their engagement photos and their story.
