Eliza and Danny completely pivoted their wedding plans from a sweet spring occasion to a colorful summer affair. With one wedding date already postponed, these two were ready to tie the knot and start that forever journey. The River Café in Brooklyn was a great choice of venue, with both indoor and outdoor options for the ceremony and reception space.
When it comes to wedding photos, the River Café is a Brooklyn wedding photographer’s dream. The space itself is just gorgeous, inside and out. Plus, they have a beautiful garden that is exclusive to their restaurant. You’re not able to take photos in this garden unless you’re having a wedding there – it’s beautifully maintained and glows with lights at night.
The first look happened on Pier A with a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance. We took the group photos by Jane’s Carousel in Brooklyn Bridge Park. These two popped some bubbly to get the party started, and celebrated with close family and friends. Finally, some portraits in the garden made beautiful use of the unique space that the River Café provides for a New York wedding celebration.
With so much beauty condensed into just one area, it’s hard not to love this special Dumbo wedding venue. The venue gives off classic vibes, highlighted by the stunning skyline and structural details. At night, this spot is a cinematic dream – twinkling lights and a super fun dance floor atmosphere.
A short walk from the River Café wedding venue is Brooklyn Bridge Park. To its left is Pier A, where we love to have engagement shoots! To the right, it’s a short walk over to Jane’s Carousel and the waterfront area. On your big day in Dumbo, definitely make sure to budget some time for all of the photo spots in the area.
Having a Dumbo wedding is just so good for wedding day photos. You can start by shooting on the Brooklyn Bridge, head down to Washington Street, walk over to Jane’s Carousel, and more. We’ll help you work out the timeline with our wedding packages to make sure that you get the iconic view of the Manhattan Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, and more in your wedding photos.
River Café wedding ceremonies can be held on their terrace or in their garden. The venue will set up seating for your guests in either location, with white chairs in the garden or standard café chairs on the terrace. Eliza and Danny went with the terrace for their ceremony, which was perfect – it briefly rained throughout their ceremony which was completely covered by a tent.
This unique Brooklyn wedding venue is the perfect choice for more intimate occasions. If you’re planning a micro-wedding in NYC, consider the River Café as an option. The maximum capacity is 100 guests, and any group up to that number will feel cozy in the terrace room. Another super unique aspect to this venue: parking for guests. If you’ve spent much time in Dumbo, you’ll know parking is a challenge – thankfully, not with this venue!
This River Café wedding served incredible food with vegan options available, perfect for this couple’s differing tastes. The wine lists at the Brooklyn wedding venue are also stunning – an absolutely amazing venue to consider for an intimate wedding in NYC. Eliza and Danny opted for small bites and an extended cocktail hour, something that was gladly welcomed after many guests hadn’t seen each other during the pandemic of 2020.
The bride decided to opt for DIY wedding hair and makeup, with stunning results accented by a floral crown. Their dress code was formal but colorful, with the bride wearing the stunning Heartleaf wedding dress from Willowby by Watters. As Brooklyn wedding photographers we are absolutely obsessed with this unique and colorful bridal look – something totally unique and tons of fun.
This couple also wore masks that were custom made to match their outfits. For Eliza’s super unique and colorful wedding dress, it was an absolute joy to see a perfectly matched mask for her look. Danny kept it chic in his blue suit, even rocking some shades on his wedding day. We loved how personal each and every wedding detail was to this couple.
Eliza and Danny brought along a tandem bike, the perfect detail symbolic to their love of biking. It matched their color scheme perfectly – yet another small detail that made a huge difference. The bride also hand-dyed the cloths draped over the tables, collected the vintage brass vases from different shops, and decorated with terrariums. Each small detail was ultra-personal to this couple, making for a completely unique Dumbo wedding.
Perfect for any season, this small-but-mighty wedding venue is not to be overlooked. With a Michelin-starred menu, not only is the atmosphere flawless, but the catering is a major pull. We absolutely loved photographing Eliza and Danny’s wedding at the River Café. Can’t wait for our next celebration at this stunning venue!
