Before their larger wedding with family and friends at the Ravel Hotel, Antoinette and Marlon tied the knot in an intimate ceremony. They chose to take Long Island City wedding photos because it was on theme with their upcoming wedding. Plus, it’s a stunning location! We took Gantry Plaza State Park wedding photos on a gorgeous fall day.
Long Island City Wedding Photos
As Brooklyn wedding photographers, we love getting out to Long Island City. The view of Manhattan is jaw-dropping and an awesome change from our usual view doing engagement photos in Dumbo. Gantry Plaza State Park is one of our favorite wedding photography locations in New York City.
Starting the Day at Church of the Ascension in Queens, NY
We started the day at the church Marlon grew up with. The Church of the Ascension in Queens, NY is a lovely church nestled in Flushing. This was Antoinette and Marlon’s official marriage ceremony before their bigger party wedding at the Ravel. They invited close family members to witness their marriage at the Church of the Ascension.

After the Church Wedding Ceremony in Queens
Once they said ‘I Do’, these two headed down the aisle! We took some quick portraits with family in the church before heading out to Long Island City. These two kept things simple on their intimate NYC micro-wedding day, wanting to focus on the love first and foremost.

LIC Wedding Photos with the New York Skyline
Gantry Plaza State Park wedding photos are honestly so beautiful. Having the midtown Manhattan skyline as the backdrop made this an iconic, timeless wedding photo session. We love that you can see the Empire State Building from this park in Long Island City. It also tied perfectly into the wedding venue, the Ravel, where they’d later be holding their wedding.
Wedding Photos on Cloudy Days in NYC
You may worry about having overcast weather on your wedding day. However, these two didn’t worry one bit! Cloudy days make for beautiful photos on your wedding day. As NYC wedding photography professionals, we love when clouds make for soft, romantic lighting. It’s very flattering when the sky is a little more grey.

Having Fun with Your Candid New York Wedding Photography
We love when couples loosen up and have fun. One of the best parts of photographing Antoinette and Marlon was that we did an engagement shoot with them. We include complimentary engagement photos with every NYC wedding photography package. It helps couples get comfortable with us and with the cameras.
How to Get Candid Wedding Photos
The most important part of getting fun, candid wedding photos is to let loose. It’s important to try and put the camera out of your mind and focus on the love story between you and your partner. Antoinette and Marlon loosened up and had a ton of fun by just being themselves and ignoring the camera, only working with prompts from us.
