As Beacon proposal photographers, we love to capture special moments for couples in Dumbo. It’s one of the most popular places that we get asked to do sessions. We know this area like the back of our hands. So, when we shot these gorgeous Brooklyn Bridge Park proposal photos in the snow, we were so thrilled at the romantic results.
When we heard it was going to snow, we were looking for a couple to come out and take snowy, romantic photos with us in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Thankfully, Eugenie and Tim were up to the challenge! We were so excited to shoot with this beautiful couple in the middle of a snowstorm. Little did we know, Tim was planning something else entirely.
I’ve known Eugenie for a long time, with us first having met in high school. It was so exciting to hear that she had moved to New York and even more excited that we got to photograph Eugenie and her partner. We set out to go to Dumbo at the beginning of the snowstorm in NYC.
The snow started to come down in the late afternoon and early evening. The timing was perfect for taking some beautiful snowy nighttime photos on the New York City skyline. The skyline is gorgeous as it is, but with snow added to it? Stunning.
If you’ve seen our work, you know that we love to photograph surprise proposals. That’s why, in the middle of the shoot, Tim took a knee and proposed to Eugenie. We were on Washington Street with the iconic view of the Manhattan bridge in the background. The sun has just officially set, leaving us lit by streetlights and car headlights. Tim popped the question in Dumbo for some of the most iconic New York City Proposal photos we’ve ever taken.
We had initially set out just to take some fun candid couples photos. We didn’t mean for the day to be any sort of special occasion. Little did we know, there was a ring burning a hole in Tim’s pocket. This proposal was a fantastic surprise for Eugenie and for us. We are super passionate about proposals and love capturing these moments for couples.
These Dumbo Proposal photos ended up being some of our favorite snowy, romantic engagement photos. As Brooklyn Proposal photographers, we’ve shot many beautiful sessions in Brooklyn Bridge Park. However, we’d never shot a Brooklyn in Bridge Proposal in the snow… until now! Everything about this evening was just magical.
Eugenie was not expecting the special moment at all, and we loved capturing her reaction. Of all the places in New York to propose, these Brooklyn Bridge proposal photos were something special. After the initial shock wore off, we took them around for a few more Brooklyn Bridge Park engagement photos.
One of the most iconic spots for proposals in New York is the waterfront in Dumbo. We gladly captured fun candid portraits of this newly engaged couple while the snow came down. James Carousel illuminated these two beautifully in these snowy Proposal photos.
When planning your NYC proposal photography, you can’t make snow happen. But, that being said, if you do want snow in your engagement photos, make sure to take a look at the upcoming forecast and contact a Beacon proposal photographer that same week. We love working with people, even on last-minute proposal ideas.
Some of the most iconic places to propose in Brooklyn Bridge Park include the following:
Eugenie and Tim’s marriage proposal was a magical occasion, and we set up some flashes to capture cinematic lighting. As proposal photographers in NYC, we don’t always get to play around with the couples after the fact, but Eugenie and Tim were down for whatever we were going to shoot.
These Brooklyn Bridge engagement photos even look fabulous in black-and-white. We love seeing how the snow coming down illustrates this romantic moment. When it snows, the streets get all shiny, and on Dumbo’s cobblestone streets, it makes the moment feel even more majestic.
Ending the evening with some sparkly photos on the city skyline, we got these two wrapped up before all of our hands froze. Yes, shooting in the snow is magical, but once the sun goes down… It’s freezing. Thankfully, everybody wore layers, and we got some gorgeous photos out of the snowstorm.
If you think that a romantic snowy proposal in New York City is right for you, contact your Beacon proposal photographers ahead of time. Make sure that they know you want to propose when it snows so that they can keep their eye on the forecast as well. That way, they can make sure they’re not booked on the next snowstorm date.
When taking proposal Photos in Dumbo Brooklyn, you also have to consider your timing. If there is inclement weather, it’s much less likely that there will be a bunch of people out. However, if it’s not snowing, you may want to double-check what time you’re heading out to the park. It’s a popular tourist destination and is often busy. If you’re going to have an intimate proposal, going early in the morning is probably the best option for you.
Planning to propose in New York City? Let us know! We’d love to help you plan the romantic Brooklyn Bridge proposal of your dreams. Whether you want to take a knee on Washington Street or by the NYC skyline, we’re ready to be there.
