Sabina and Sean held their Metropolitan Ballroom wedding on a beautiful, cloudy day in Brooklyn. We are so grateful that the hot weather held off for this New York summer wedding. Their ceremony and reception took place at Metropolitan Ballroom, a Brooklyn Whiting The New that is ready for a party. We had so much fun capturing this love-filled celebration as New York wedding photographers.
When we first met Sean and Sabina, we knew that these two were going to have a fantastic celebration of love. They leaned into all sorts of prompts and poses and had a blast when taking photos together. We knew that their special day was going to be a super fun and seamless time.
These two may say that they’re awkward in front of a camera, but we saw no such thing. Full of so much joy and love, this wonderful couple really took the time to enjoy every moment of their wedding day.
Sabina and Sean had their first look at their Brooklyn apartment before heading out for portraits. We loved this personal touch on their NYC wedding day. Their wedding party joined them for the moment and stood off to the side to take everything in.
Having rented a party bus, our next stop was Brooklyn Bridge Park. DUMBO is a versatile place for Wedding Photos because there are so many gorgeous locations. It does get busy during the day, but with a white dress, you can typically command the area.
We started on the Brooklyn Bridge itself, taking the entrance at Prospect Street and Washington Street. This is an easy way to get onto the Brooklyn Bridge for quick photos during your wedding day. We then headed down Washington Street before taking group photos near Jane’s Carousel.
This area is great for group photos with your Brooklyn wedding photographer, whether that’s family wedding photos or wedding party photos. You can get the gorgeous Manhattan skyline in the background with the Brooklyn Bridge visible. It’s easy enough to clear out an area to bring your loved ones for photos. After the VIP photos were taken, we all hopped in the party bus and headed over to Metropolitan Ballroom.
Metropolitan Ballroom is a fun wedding venue in the heart of Brooklyn. This space has two floors, allowing for a pretty major separation of spaces. The ceremony and cocktail hour were hosted upstairs respectively, while the reception took place in the grand ballroom downstairs. The ceremony was a Jewish wedding ceremony, and the couple had their guests pop confetti on their way back down the aisle.
The ceremony was filled with very personal vows with the bride and groom. We are so happy to have captured these vows in their wedding video, as they truly were a highlight of the day. these flowers were so special, as they really captured the love and joy between Sabina and Sean.
If you’re planning on writing your own vows, having NYC wedding videography is always a great addition to your photography and videography coverage. Capturing those special words that will bond you for a lifetime means so much down the line.
After the ceremony, the guests moved downstairs for the reception. Starting off with some super fun introductions for the wedding party, we then headed into the first dance. Sabina and Sean then invited their guests to join them for some fun on the dance floor.
We loved that this dance floor was fairly open and there were multiple dance sets, as opposed to one single structured dance set. It kept the energy of the room flowing through the entire evening.
When unique part of Sabina and Sean’s wedding was their love story film in addition to their engagement shoot. Prior to the big day, they had us film a love story video describing how they got together and what they love about each other. Playing this at their wedding reception was a beautiful moment for their guests who then got to witness another emotional moment.
The speeches from each respective partner’s siblings were super cute. After all was said and done, the dance floor craziness really begun! The whole party let loose to have a wonderful time at this wedding celebration. We are so thrilled to have captured these beautiful moments for Sabina and Sean.
One great thing about this venue is that they have lots of fun lighting options. We really felt that Sabina and Sean‘s choices of having indoor sparkler cannons and colorful lighting made for a high-energy room.
Since this NYC wedding venue was a little further out there, we loved this couple’s choice to take their wedding photos in Brooklyn Bridge Park. Although it was a bit of a hike from Metropolitan Ballroom, it was definitely worth it to have that great location.
The area that this wedding venue sits in does not have the most photo locations available, so making some extra time in your schedule for formal portraits can make a huge difference. Consider doing Brooklyn Bridge Park a little earlier in the day for smaller crowds.
As New York wedding photographers, we always love discovering new venues. This was our first time capturing a wedding at Metropolitan ballroom, and it definitely won’t be our last. Having the ceremony and reception space all in one venue is a very convenient way to celebrate the big day.
Thinking of getting married at Metropolitan Ballroom? Let us know! We would love to help capture your day with photo and video coverage. Congratulations to Sabina and Sean, we can’t wait to see how your love story continues.
