As Hudson Valley wedding photographers, we spend a lot of time in this industrial neighborhood. Michelle and Colin’s Gowanus wedding photos feature some of our favorite parts of the area. From the architecture to the street art, you have so many options for your New York wedding photography. We even got gorgeous photos of the Gowanus Canal with the couple for this Green Building wedding.
Gowanus Wedding Photos from Green Building Celebration
While the Green Building is now closed, we were lucky enough to capture this wedding prior to its closing. Colin and Michelle’s special day focused around color, fun, and liveliness. It’s exactly what any couple would want from their Gowanus wedding photos. If you want to tie the knot at a spot like 501 Union, you can take inspiration from these pictures.
Where to Take Wedding Photography in Gowanus
The locations in Gowanus for your wedding photo shoot are versatile. Just steps away from Union Street are some great walls with colorful street art. You can use these as a pop of color for your wedding day. Whether you’re having an elegant black tie affair or an intimate occasion, your NYC wedding photos will be super fun in this area.
Hudson Valley wedding photographers Capturing Ace Hotel Pictures
For Michelle and Colin’s wedding at the Green Building, they started the day at the Ace Hotel Brooklyn. This is a popular getting ready location for couples who are marrying in Gowanus, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights, Cobble Hill, and Downtown Brooklyn. We love that these two decided to do their first look at the hotel itself. When you do the first look at your first location, it allows you to travel together on your wedding day.
Where to Have a Wedding in Gowanus, Brooklyn
As New York wedding photographers, we’ve always had fun capturing weddings at the Green Building and at 501 Union. The Gowanus Hospitality team does a great job with their locations. With a built-in sound system, great spots to have a dance floor, and outdoor space in the neighborhood for portraits, you can’t go wrong.

Brooklyn Wedding Photos Captured by Candid Photographers
Colin and Michelle’s wedding includes so many fun elements to take inspiration from. This includes a ceiling full of disco balls that set the mood for the dance floor. They were hanging from the wedding venue’s beam ceilings in the renovated brass foundry. On tables and chairs, they had sequinned table cloths for a bit of added sparkle. As wedding photographers in New York, we always support some extra sparkle.
Photojournalistic Wedding Photo and Video Team
With a super fun mix of bohemian decor and Ibiza inspiration, this wedding is a perfect example of what we love to shoot in New York City. These two had an ice cream truck arrive in the reception to surprise their guests. The color palette was a combination of rich and vibrant oranges, blues, and pinks.
