We're Beacon-based Hudson Valley & Catskills wedding + elopement photographers who love to capture natural, authentic moments for all couples in love.
Ashton and RJ took some gorgeous Flatiron District engagement photos with us on a rainy spring day. Despite the weather, they were troopers and had a great time exploring all of the different nooks and crannies in the district. We loved that these two were totally game for anything on this cloudy day. It turns out, weather like this is perfect for some nice, even shadows.

If you’re looking for a picturesque location in the heart of Manhattan, the Flatiron District should be at the top of your list! With its unique architecture and charming cobblestone streets, it’s the perfect backdrop for any engagement photos. Here are some of our favorite spots in the district:
For this session, we focused on the Flatiron Building as a backdrop for their gorgeous session. Madison Square Park is a great meeting spot for us because there are also some elements of nature to blend into the session. We also love that this is right by fifth and sixth avenue, giving views of the Freedom Tower.
As New York wedding photographers, we know that the best time to take photos in the Flatiron District is in the springtime. The weather is usually mild and there are plenty of pretty blooms around to add pops of color. However, the district can be beautiful all year round, so don’t let bad weather keep you from booking a session! If you’re looking for a cityscape setting with lots of character, the Flatiron District is hard to beat.
Despite the rain, Ashton and RJ had a great time during their engagement photo session. In fact, we think that photos taken on a rainy day can be really beautiful! The diffuse light creates soft and even shadows, and the moody weather can add an interesting element to your photos. However, if it rains really hard, it’s best to reschedule your session.

Since the district is full of buildings and tall structures, we recommend taking your photos during the morning. This is when the sun will be at a lower angle in the sky, casting nice shadows and adding to the dramatic effect of the photos. To avoid how busy the area is, sunrise sessions are the best time to shoot. If you’re looking for a more relaxed session, we also recommend doing a weekday photo shoot for your Flatiron District engagement photos.

When you’re looking for top New York wedding photographers to capture your Flatiron District engagement photos, be sure to keep comfort in mind. We know that you’ll be spending a good amount of time on your feet, so we make sure to choose locations that will be comfortable for you. Our goal is to help you relax and have fun during your session, so you can focus on your love for each other. Contact us today to book your engagement session in the Flatiron District!
Either way works for us! We’ll be in touch in no time at all to book in a chat with you and, yes, we’re sure Cordy and Phoebe will pop up and say hi.
