It was a beautiful day in Manhattan when Jackie and Jamie took their LGBTQ West Village engagement photos. The couple, who had been together for several years, was excited to capture their love and commitment to each other in the neighborhood that meant so much to them. As New York engagement photographers, we adore this neighborhood and all the personal stories of our couples.
As we walked through the streets, we featured many of the iconic landmarks of the area, including the charming brownstones and the historic Gay Street. Jackie and Jamie were the perfect models, laughing and smiling as they posed in front of these picturesque backdrops. When it comes to engagement photos in the West Village, we love when couples want to take their pictures in a location that is meaningful to them.
But the LGBTQ engagement photography wasn’t just about capturing the beauty of the West Village – it was also about celebrating the love and acceptance that is so prevalent in this vibrant community. Jackie and Jamie were able to be themselves and express their love openly, something that is so important to them as a couple. As wedding photographers, we want our couples to be comfortable expressing themselves on camera.
As these two opened up for the camera, we made our way to Cubbyhole, a beloved queer bar in the area. This was a particularly special stop for Jackie and Jamie, as it is a place where they have spent many happy evenings together. The couple posed for some intimate shots outside the cozy bar, surrounded by the colorful decorations and the warm atmosphere. For West Village engagement photos, we always encourage couples to choose special locations.
Their engagement session in New York City was a beautiful and personal experience for Jackie and Jamie. They learned about different poses and tips to get comfortable in front of the camera, and were able to capture their love in a place that holds so much meaning for them. It was a joy to witness their love and be a part of such a special moment in their lives.
As we walked through the streets of the West Village, Jackie and Jamie’s love for each other was palpable. It was clear that they were deeply committed to each other and excited to capture their love in this special neighborhood. As their wedding photography team, we adored the opportunity to get to know our couples ahead of the big day.
But beyond just being a beautiful photo shoot, this session was also an opportunity to celebrate and document LGBTQ love. For too long, LGBTQ love stories have been marginalized and not given the same visibility as heterosexual love stories. But it’s important to recognize and honor the love and commitment of all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.
That’s why it was so meaningful for Jackie and Jamie to have this photo shoot in the West Village. This neighborhood is known for its acceptance and celebration of the LGBTQ community. Their love was freely expressed as we walked through the historic streets of this NYC neighborhood.
Sharing LGBTQ love stories is important not just for the couples involved, but also for the larger community. LGBTQ individuals’ love and relationships can be normalized and celebrated, and can serve as an inspiration for others. LGBTQ love stories are more important than ever in a world that still struggles with discrimination and inequality. It was an honor to document Jackie and Jamie’s love in the West Village, and to tell their story.
If you’re interested in having your LGBTQ love story captured for your special day, reach out and let us know. We would emphatically love to photograph your queer wedding day in NYC, or take beautiful West Village engagement photos. Reach out and we’ll get the party started for your beautiful session as soon as possible.
