Ryan popped the question to his partner Chloe on a beautiful winter day in Brooklyn. We always love taking DUMBO proposal photos in the winter because the neighborhood is much emptier than usual. On this particular day, it was overcast at dusk, making for some perfectly romantic New York proposal photography.

He had reached out to us ahead of time about capturing this big moment in their relationship. Having done long distance across country borders during the pandemic, these two were excited to finally take their relationship to the next level. As Beacon proposal photographers, this park by the Manhattan skyline is one of our favorite places for iconic New York engagement photos.

Cold Weather DUMBO Proposal Photography

Ryan took a knee near Jane’s Carousel by the waterfront. In Brooklyn Bridge Park, there are tons of different locations to propose. One of the most popular places, however, is the railing near the carousel. This area features a stunning view of Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Especially at dusk like in these photos, it makes for a perfect scene for the proposal.

We showed up to the location early to make sure the spot would still be available. Thankfully, it was and we held it down for Ryan. Since Brooklyn Bridge Park proposals are so popular, it can sometimes be difficult at peak times of day to grab a spot. On this day, however, we got lucky because it wasn’t that crowded and was a little chilly. DUMBO proposal photos are still some of our favorites regardless of time of day or season.

Chloe said ‘Yes!’ and it was time to take some engagement photos in DUMBO. They may have been cold, but their hearts were warm. We walked through Brooklyn Bridge Park taking some sweet pictures for these two while Ryan prepared the other surprise for the evening.

It turned out, he had flown Chloe’s family in to New York City to surprise her. As if the proposal in NYC wasn’t enough of a surprise, she was definitely surprise when her parents showed up. We loved capturing this moment as part of their engagement photoshoot as the emotions were so high. Overall, it was a perfect proposal.

Get Engaged in Brooklyn Bridge Park on the Manhattan Skyline

This surprise proposal in DUMBO featured many of the iconic locations in the neighborhood. We walked over to Washington Street for the Manhattan Bridge view. We also took photos near Jane’s Carousel and close to the Time Out Market building.
