Sonia and Aaron held their intimate private rooftop micro-wedding in New York City. This was the perfect spot to tie the knot. Initially, this couple had chosen a larger Brooklyn wedding venue for their celebration. Despite the pandemic of 2020, these two decided to tie the knot anyway. This NYC rooftop wedding was the perfect alternative to their original wedding day plans.
Rooftop Micro Wedding in New York City
Having an intimate wedding on a roof was undeniably awesome. There was adequate room for social distancing and adequate fresh air in the outdoor atmosphere. The rooftop itself had city views, including an incredible view of the Empire State Building. The best part about using a private roof? They could do the ceremony at any time – it was available 24 hours a day. Inviting only close family and a few friends, the choice to elope in NYC on a rooftop was flawless in 2020.

New York Micro-Wedding Photography
We started with a first look in the West Village. Sonia approached Aaron and gave him a little squeeze on the butt – an awesome and unexpected moment. Thankfully, as two New York elopement photographers, we managed to capture the moment from both perspectives. We then walked around the West Village and Meatpacking District for some classic New York City wedding photos. As the sun started to set, we headed back to the Chelsea private rooftop for this intimate wedding.
Rooftop Micro Wedding in NYC with Chuppah
The two were married under a special chuppah on the rooftop, surrounded by close family and friends. They also had family tuning in from all over to celebrate the intimate occasion. These two plan to do a larger wedding at a later time in 2021, once things are a little safer regarding gatherings. For now, their special NYC rooftop micro-wedding was the perfect way to celebrate their new joined life.
These two hosted a cocktail hour before a sit-down dinner with family. As the city lights sparkled in the background, there were impromptu toasts made to the couple. All meals were in special pre-portioned containers, making the catering from Sterling Affair a safe and delicious choice.

Thinking About a Rooftop Micro-Wedding in NYC?
One of the most important parts of hosting a rooftop micro-wedding is to consider weather contingency plans. Although the forecast threatened Sonia and Aaron’s special day, the rain thankfully held off. However, if you do plan to have an outdoor elopement, make sure there is a backup plan in case of poor weather. Also, make sure to get the marriage license at least 24 hours ahead of time if you plan to get married in New York.
Let us know if you’re planning to elope! We’d love to hear what you’re thinking – we love intimate weddings like this rooftop micro-wedding.
