Katie and Matt planned their intimate NYC elopement ceremony in Central Park. They didn’t know that it was going to be super rainy in Manhattan that day. However, these two persevered and decided to tie the night anyway. We love photographing this iconic Central Park Elopement in NYC.
Surrounded by close family and friends, exchange vows under the safety of Bethesda Terrace. It was a super romantic and personal wedding ceremony. With their guests zooming in friends on the big day, they sure at the moment with those who couldn’t be there.
Katie and Matt hired a violinist to play some music before, during, and after their intimate Elopement ceremony. It was a romantic touch to this magical rainy wedding day. As they exchanged their first kiss, their family and friends showered them in birdseed. It was a friendly alternative to biodegradable confetti, and the birds in the park swarmed to the location afterward.
To celebrate their new union, they popped open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate. That was a fun and candid moment as the bottle popped under Bethesda Terrace. We were so honored to capture these special, intimate moments for this happy couple.
After a toast and greeting with family and friends, we headed out into the rain for some pictures. Taking rainy day photos at this Central Park wedding was just the best. It makes you feel like you’re living in a Manhattan-based movie. Rainy wedding photos are ultra-romantic, and we wanted them to have that experience.
We showed up with clear bubble umbrellas, which are a staple of any wedding day. Please keep your dry and also keep the light in the photos. They’re a great way to illustrate that you indeed had rain on your wedding day. They are so stylish for the pictures, and so you can capture all the emotions underneath.
With nobody else in the park due to the weather, we had such a blast capturing the two. We set up the flash and caught the raindrops coming down around them. Using a flash in inclement weather can give you incredible rainy wedding day photography results. These two were totally up for anything on their elopement day.
The couple provided their guests with some Baked by Melissa cupcakes. This was a small, simple wedding favor to thank those who attended their elopement. We love this idea for a morning elopement in Central Park. They also use an extraordinary piece of fabric to bring together the bride’s bouquet: fabric from Matt’s mother’s wedding dress.
Although the original wedding plans had been a little larger than this intimate wedding in Central Park, they turned lemons into lemonade. We sincerely enjoy capturing this micro wedding ceremony in Manhattan. Even with the rainstorm happening, Katie persevered with her hair and makeup to become a beautiful elopement bride in Central Park.
If you plan to get married on a rainy day in New York, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, the locations that you choose will likely be emptier than usual. That’s a total win for your intimate wedding photography! We love capturing popular sites during inclement weather. It makes for some fantastic photos for couples who are up for it.
When it comes to rainy weddings in NYC, remember to bring an umbrella. Not just any umbrella, however. Look into some clear bubble umbrellas for yourself and your guests. Like we mentioned earlier, these umbrellas let the lighting through to take outdoor photos. They’re great for a couple’s portrait or even group shots.
If it is raining on your wedding day, have a backup pair of shoes. You won’t want to be walking in wet heels between indoor and outdoor locations. Bring a couple of back up walking shoes if you plan to take raiNYC Wedding Photos. We usually recommend you bring back up walking shoes on your wedding day regardless if you want some iconic outdoor locations for Wedding Photos in New York.
If having guests, have someone who is willing to help come along for photos. On this rainy wedding day in Central Park, Katie’s sister was there for her. She followed along during their wedding day photos in the rain. She was willing to hold anything that Katie needed, six little pieces of hair, and make sure that everything was going smoothly.
When planning elopement on a rainy day, make sure that there is adequate coverage. Especially if you have family and friends there, you’ll want to make sure there is some sort of shelter they can stand within. For Katie and Matt, that would be Bethesda Terrace as their location of choice.
Having this shelter from the storm was essential to their experience as guests. Plus, it meant that these two didn’t need to have a rainy wedding ceremony. The ambiance of the rain coming down made for lovely background noise during the ceremony but didn’t physically disrupt a couple.
If you’re thinking about getting married at Central Park’s Bethesda Terrace, let us know. We would love to help with your wedding photography needs. When planning for your Central Park elopement, make sure you look into any necessary permits for the spot. You’ll want to make sure that you don’t get kicked out mid-ceremony.
When it comes to wedding vendors for a New York City elopement like this, look into a New York elopement photographer, an officiant, hair, and makeup. That should typically be enough people when it comes to vendors. Katie and that also included a musician in their day, which made things a little more lively.
