Stephanie and Alex tied the knot at their jaw-dropping Cambridge Mill wedding in the springtime. As wedding photographers in Ontario, it was a ton of fun to capture this industrial yet rustic event venue in the historic town of Cambridge. We absolutely love this versatile space that features ample natural light and tons of wedding photo shoot locations.
The day started with both the bride and groom getting ready at the Cambridge Hotel and Conference Center. Stephanie had her hair and makeup done by the talented team at Makeup Worx. Having a great team behind you on your big day can help make it a successful celebration. These two seriously had the best team of vendors working to make it a lovely event.
While many of our weddings have been captured in metropolitan areas, this intimate setting provided a beautiful venue with gorgeous landscapes and tons to work with for their Cambridge Mill wedding photography. From the bride and groom’s first look to the emotional ceremony and all the way through to the fun-filled reception, there were so many great moments to capture throughout the day.
The first look took place on the balcony for their Cambridge Mill wedding photos, which overlooks the river. After they shared this private moment, we headed over to Mill Race Park across the street. This is such a pretty spot for photos with the waterfall and stone bridge. It’s no wonder it’s a popular choice for engagements and weddings. Plus, scenes from A Handmaid’s Tale have been filmed there – something definitely referenced in a couple of wedding speeches on this wild wedding day.
Walking around the park, we came across the brick wall overlooking the river. It made for the perfect backdrop to some romantic portraits of Stephanie and Alex. If you’re looking for a place to take your wedding photos in Cambridge, Ontario – Mill Race Park should definitely be at the top of your list! There are so many different looks you can go for with this versatile outdoor space.
Given the volume of weddings in the area, it’s a good idea to obtain a permit. Mill Race Park requires a permit for both professional photography and weddings. For more information on getting a permit, you can send a request form through the city of Cambridge.
After taking some family photos and bridal party portraits, it was time to head back to Cambridge Mill for the wedding ceremony run by Courtney Sweet Officiant. The couple exchanged their vows in front of the huge windows, glowing with the natural light of the space. We love events at this Ontario wedding venue because of the perfect lighting. Regardless of weather conditions, you’ll be soaked in sunlight in this ceremony room.
After the ceremony, it was time to celebrate at the reception! The space was transformed with pretty florals by Special Events & Flowers. Calligraphy was done by Megan Nicole Lettering to further adorn the decor. And most important to a wedding reception, the entertainment – DJ Flavia turned it up to 100! The couple had an absolute blast, with Fireball being a major theme to the celebration.
If you’re considering this venue for your wedding or event, we highly recommend it! It’s the perfect mix of industrial and rustic, which provides tons of options for your decor. The staff is also amazing and very accommodating. Originally a gristmill powered by the Grand River, this beautiful heritage building now serves as a unique and popular event venue in the heart of Cambridge.
The Pavilion where Stephanie and Alex had their ceremony can accommodate up to 200 guests seated. A perfect space to get married in any weather conditions, this spacious room gives you a great view of the outdoors while keeping you sheltered. The Falls Room & Solarium where the couple had their cocktail hour and reception can fit 180 guests and has stunning views and lovely lighting
If you’re having a Cambridge Mill wedding, you may wonder how to get the best wedding reception photos possible. Our tip as some of the top Buffalo wedding photographers would be to lean in and have fun. If you want your guests to have fun party shots on the dance floor, you need to be out there with them! Stephanie and Alex did a great job at tearing up the dance floor for their wedding photography in Cambridge.
