On a chilly winter day, Stas proposed to Mallory in the stunning Brooklyn Bridge Park. This spot is central to the Dumbo neighborhood, featuring flawless views of the Manhattan skyline, Manhattan Bridge, and Brooklyn Bridge. We love coordinating with partners to pop the question in this pristine place.
Stas and Mallory’s Dumbo Proposal
When it comes to marriage proposals in NYC, there are so many beautiful locations. There are few spots, however, more beautiful than Brooklyn Bridge Park. With a stunning view of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, you get a truly cinematic view of the big apple in this Dumbo location.

Finding a Quiet Spot to Propose in Brooklyn
Stas wanted to propose to Mallory in an intimate way, so we opted for a chilly day out at the park. Prior to Stas and Mallory arriving, we cleared the area he was going to propose to be sure that we could get the shot. There were a few folks spectating in the area, but the beauty of a winter proposal in Brooklyn is that you’ll have a pretty empty location.

Planning Where to Propose in Dumbo
In the days leading up to the secret proposal photography session, we connected with Stas to make sure we were on the same page. We decided on this spot in Dumbo because it gives a perfect background of Lower Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge. Right in front of Jane’s Carousel, this nearly unobstructed view of the city brings so much romance into your proposal photos.

Proposing in Front of Jane’s Carousel
Choosing this spot in front of Jane’s Carousel makes for a great landmark when it comes to proposing. If you’re thinking about a Dumbo proposal with the skyline, the carousel makes for an easy-to-find location. While planning, if you decide to have friends or family come to meet you, Jane’s Carousel is a very obvious meeting spot so no one gets lost.

Capturing the Special Moment on the NYC Skyline
Stas pulled off this surprise proposal without a hitch. Before he took a knee, he made sure that Mallory removed her mask – perfect to catch her reaction in the photos. The moment Stas proposed on the NYC skyline was one to remember, with perfect golden light illuminating the scene. Mallory was completely surprised, which means… the proposal was a success!

Mini Engagement Photo Session in Dumbo, Brooklyn
After Mallory said yes (of course!) we did a mini engagement photo session around the neighborhood. As opposed to doing a Brooklyn Bridge proposal, popping the question in Dumbo allows you to get the bridge in the background… without the hectic traffic on the bridge! We did their mini photo shoot as the sun set in this gorgeous spot.

Choosing the Right Time for a Dumbo Proposal
This special location in the heart of Dumbo can get quite busy. Like Central Park, it’s a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. There are tons of gorgeous, Instagram-worthy spots which means there are lots of people who come through. You’ve got to figure out the best time to pop the question in this super beautiful area.
What Time to Propose in Dumbo
When you pop the question by Jane’s Carousel, consider proposing in the morning. There are fewer people in the area in the morning, giving you a more intimate moment. You can then take your partner out to brunch after at the Time Out Market or one of many fantastic restaurants in this neighborhood.
Evening Proposals on the Manhattan Skyline
If you’re thinking of proposing at the end of the day, don’t fear – you can still have a beautiful moment! Have your Brooklyn proposal photographer show up at the location ahead of time to secure the space. Make sure to coordinate with them ahead of time and stay in touch in case you need a backup spot.
Proposing in the Winter Time in New York
Let’s be honest – winter in New York City is cold. Like, it can get so cold you can’t think. That being said, engagement season tends to fall right into the window of chilly weather… so you might as well bundle up and pop the question! While planning your proposal, think of things that will make your partner feel warm and loved even after the ring is on their finger.
Grab a Hot Chocolate on Your Walk Through Dumbo
While you’re making your way over to the proposal spot, grab a hot chocolate for you and your partner. Snag a hot chocolate at One Girl Cookies or Brooklyn Roasting Company while you stroll through the park. Then after you slip on the engagement ring, make sure to slip on your partner’s gloves after!
