We were so honored to capture this beautiful Castle Hill Inn wedding in Newport, Rhode Island. Though this was our first trip to Rhode Island, it certainly won’t be our last – as New York wedding photographers, we’re straight up thinking of becoming Rhode Island wedding photographers too! The stunning views at this Newport wedding venue, paired with perfect weather and a flawlessly designed day, made for an absolutely ideal day.

This wedding took place in early fall, where it was just warm enough outside not to be cold, but not too hot so no one was sweating. We hit that sweet spot of a September wedding in the northeast, which as all-in-all, a dream to capture. Though they’d initially planned to have an NYC wedding, their plans changed during the pandemic of 2020.

Before Lauren and John’s Rhode Island Wedding

We first met Lauren and John on the day they got engaged. John hired us to capture their NYC proposal photography in Madison Square Park. He planned a sneaky proposal when Lauren came to the park to walk their adorable dog, Lucy. We approached Lauren and asked to take a photo of her sweet pup, and while we were “taking the photo”, John took a knee.

We had no idea on that day that Lauren and John would become such a fantastic part of our lives! We ended up capturing their engagement photos, then finally their dreamy wedding at Castle Hill Inn. Originally, these two had planned for an iconic New York City wedding… until the pandemic hit. Everything changed, and these two pivoted to something completely different.

Castle Hill Inn had been an important place to Lauren since she was a little girl. The beautiful Newport harbor views had been a part of her life growing up, and she couldn’t wait to spend her special day at this beautiful venue. Located in Newport, RI the stunning Castle Hill Inn is a wedding venue that dreams are made of.

New York wedding photographers Capturing Wedding in Rhode Island

As New York wedding photographers, we hadn’t expected to photograph a wedding in the northeast… but once we were there, we couldn’t get enough. Now, we’re open to being Rhode Island wedding photographers! We love to travel for wedding days across the northeast of the USA. This wedding was a total game-changer for us, as we couldn’t get enough of these coastal vibes.

During the day, there were gorgeous panoramic views that spanned the property. At night? The Castle Hill Inn has beautiful views of Narragansett Bay and the harbor lights. Of all the wedding venues in Rhode Island, the Castle Hill Inn is hard to beat for wedding photos. Not only are there stunning views, but let’s talk about the event space too.

Stunning Rhode Island Wedding Venue with Panoramic Views

These two hosted their wedding in Castle Hill Inn’s outdoor tented space, perfect for any weather conditions. Although the forecast of this wedding day said it was going to rain, the weather held up perfectly for this super special Rhode Island wedding. They ended up holding an outdoor ceremony with a tented reception.

For the later hours of the evening, the couple had fire pits and bistro lights that created a cozy atmosphere. When guests weren’t tearing up the dancefloor, they were enjoying the warm glow of the fireside. With DJ Ben Boylan taking care of the tunes, the dancefloor was an ultra-personal occasion with the bride and groom loving every second of it.

Fun Wedding Favors for this Newport Wedding

Lauren and John’s favors included beer cozies, masks, sanitizer, and a cozy blanket. Guests used these cozy blankets to relax by the fire and take in the beautiful nighttime views on the Newport harbor. Masks and sanitizer were a perfect addition to make guests feel even more safe and comfortable during this bizarre time in the world.

Wedding Photography Inspiration at Castle Hill Inn, Rhode Island

The Castle Hill Inn in Newport is the perfect spot for wedding photography. Mixing the coastal vibes of Rhode Island with beautiful greenery, we walked through the property for a number of different wedding photo themes. We started with a first look on the beach, where Lauren and John shared an intimate moment by the rocks.

Taking Wedding Photos at the Castle Hill Inn Lighthouse

For more photo opportunities, we took a golf cart through the woodsy terrain and over to the lighthouse. This iconic lighthouse is amazing for Newport wedding photos, with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and Narragansett Bay. Definitely be sure to grab photos at the spot on your wedding day – it’s worth it!

We took wedding party photos in front of the iconic structure of the Castle Hill Inn, which gave a classy vibe to these group photos. Organizing everyone from the families and bridal party on the lawn of this Rhode Island wedding venue made for some incredible summery wedding photos.

Ceremony and Wedding Reception Photos from Castle Hill Inn in Newport, RI

The ceremony took place on their lawn with a beautiful arch. A Petal to Peddle did a unique flower design with white flowers lining the aisle. This simple touch made a major impact on their ceremony design, opting for these solo stems instead of petals. The skies were clear and beautiful, with a breeze off the water giving Lauren’s hair some cinematic wind.

This Castle Hill Inn wedding reception took place under the tent, with cocktails first being served on the lawn. A cozy environment was masterfully designed by Ann Marie at Simply Styled Events that transitioned guests perfectly from the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to the reception.

We absolutely adored photographing every moment of Lauren and John’s Rhode Island wedding. Even the couple’s suite at the Castle Hill Inn was a ton of fun to take photos at. These two brought along their dog Lucy to include her in all the fun! Although it wasn’t the wedding day they’d originally planned, this Newport wedding turned out even more magical than anything we could have imagined.
