Alex and Jon’s beautiful Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding was a dream to capture as a New York wedding photographer team. The cold weather was eased with warmth from the gorgeous autumn colors, blue skies, and color tinged leaves. We will never tire of the beauty in autumn weddings upstate, especially at perfect venues like this wedding at Blue Hill.
We met this couple at a totally different celebration when we photographed Alex’s bridesmaid, Grace’s wedding, at Houston Hall in New York City. Little did we know that a few weeks later we’d end up photographing this gorgeous Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding for Alex and Jon! When an emergency came up with their original team, we stepped in to capture some gorgeous wedding photo and video coverage at this jaw-dropping event space.
We loved taking fall wedding photos at Blue Hill in Tarrytown. Before the celebration began at this gorgeous venue, we had to get Alex and Jon to tie the knot. We started the day at the Bedford Post Inn and the Westchester Marriott respectively with each half of the wedding party. Alex got ready surrounded by loved ones at the Bedford Post Inn, a gorgeous place to stay in upstate New York. It’s the perfect spot to get ready in the peace and quiet with family and friends before their wedding day.
The Bedford Post Inn also has dining, yoga, and event spaces. It’s a versatile property tucked away in Westchester County. The fall colors were peeking out in the trees which made it a lovely setting for an October wedding day. This eight-room inn features multiple layouts to choose from and creates an intimate experience for guests.
Jon and his friends got ready at the Westchester Marriott in Tarrytown. This was the hotel they had their room block at because it was conveniently close to their wedding venue. On the other hand, the Bedford Post Inn was nice and close to the church where they said their vows. These two got married at Saint Patrick’s Church in Bedford, NY. This quaint church had gorgeous natural light and allowed for a sweet shot of the couple leaving the church surrounded by loved ones.
The happy couple opted out of doing a first look. It was important that they see each other for the first time at the beginning of their church wedding ceremony at Saint Patrick’s Church. It was totally worth it, as Jon’s reaction couldn’t have been more emotional. The groom’s eyes filled with tears as he watched his bride approaching the altar. We loved seeing the pure emotion between these two!
Post-ceremony, the couple took a few friends and family photos at the altar of the church. They prioritized taking the majority of the Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding photos at the event venue itself. How could they not – between the dramatic stone walls and gorgeous Hudson Valley nature, we were obsessed with this property for wedding photography in the Hudson Valley.
After their heartfelt ceremony, we hurried over to Blue Hill to get some shots in. The light was fading fast on this fall wedding day, so it was important that we got a little natural light in. Weather permitting, these two were ready to get some speedy portraits done ahead of cocktail hour. The overcast skies, barns, and stonework truly made for an idyllic scene. We couldn’t have been happier as Hudson Valley wedding photographers that the weather held out as it did for this occasion.
Post-ceremony, Blue Hill was the perfect place for cocktail hour. There is a lot of stone and open space for guests to mingle and eat with loved ones. It was important for Alex and Jon to provide their guests with plenty of food and drink at blue hill farm wedding. The couple chose blue hill’s top-notch catering services with the most delicious passed hors d’oeuvres. The incredible food was matched only by the atmosphere at this intimate cocktail gathering, with dim lighting and mood music.
We took Alex and Jon’s Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding photos around the property before sunset. It was a lovely, overcast autumn day which made for some nice, even lighting. We love fall weddings in Upstate New York and the Hudson Valley. The colors in the trees were just starting to peak with red, orange, and yellow hues. It was the perfect spot for a fall wedding in New York.
Before this wedding we had not visited Blue Hill, and we can’t wait to go back for another gorgeous wedding at this lovely spot. For outdoor autumn ceremonies, you also have the option to have a tented wedding. Since Alex and Jon didn’t have their ceremony at this Tarrytown wedding venue, we only saw the gorgeous cocktail and reception spaces in use. We can’t wait to see what this venue looks like for a full-day celebration as well.
For dinner, this Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding takes a cue from its name. They serve its menu with farm-to-table ingredients. The super unique menu was enjoyed by all the guests and featured three courses that kept people excited. This gorgeous restaurant wedding venue in Tarrytown, featured on Netflix, is perfect for creating an unforgettable guest experience.
This Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding reception was the perfect way to spend to Alex and Jon’s fall wedding weekend. The couple had been to dinner together at the restaurant before, and loved the classy yet relaxed atmosphere of this east coast farm-to-table restaurant. We had such an amazing time photographing these two charming people at this iconic wedding venue in the Westchester area.
The green-domed plateau of the Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding venue is one of our favorite backdrops. For autumn wedding photography in Upstate New York, it’s so unique. Alex and Jon’s blue, blue hill wedding was so wonderful, and we can’t help but think about how fall weddings are so truly one-of-a-kind in the Hudson Valley. Although we weren’t there during most of their wedding planning process, they shared tons of their backstory with us to catch us up.
Walking into the ceremony site, you could feel the warm emotions overflowing from every guest present. Including myself, the entire team was on cloud nine for this wedding. Capturing both photography and wedding videography at Alex and Jon’s Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding in October was an absolute honor. As both a photo and video team, having dual coverage makes the memories of your day feel well-rounded.
As Beacon-based wedding photographers, we love the crispness of this beautiful day and the warm colors that frame it all. It’s important to us to have fun, candid photos to capture couples special day. Alex and Jon made it easy as their joy came through in every single photo. We were so honored to do their stunning Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding photography.
If you’re recently engaged and thinking of having a Blue Hill at Stone Barns wedding, let us know. We absolutely adore this venue as Tarrytown wedding photographers. It’s one of the most stunning places we’ve ever seen, and we seriously can’t wait to go back for fun, romantic wedding photos in Tarrytown.
