Cristina and Michael chose a winter wedding at The Roundhouse for their special day, and it was absolutely magical. The historic space sits above Fishkill Creek and feels especially intimate during the colder months. Their daughter Serena joined them throughout the day, making this a true family celebration that we’ll never forget.

Cristina prepared for her day upstairs in the boutique hotel. The natural light streaming through the windows was soft and flattering, perfect for getting ready photos. Her one-year-old daughter Serena joined her during these precious moments, toddling around the room and adding sweetness to every frame. The bridal suite felt cozy and warm, a welcome contrast to the crisp winter air outside.

Meanwhile, Michael got ready downstairs in the restaurant area. The roaring fireplace created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the groom and his groomsmen. They shared laughs and helped each other with boutonnieres while the fire crackled in the background. These relaxed moments before the ceremony are always some of our favorites to capture.

The couple planned their first look outside by the water. The winter landscape was quiet and still, with bare branches creating interesting textures against the gray sky. However, Cristina had a surprise in store for Michael first. She brought little Serena out to see her daddy before the official first look.

The moment was absolutely heartwarming and emotional. Michael’s face lit up seeing his daughter in her tiny dress, and he scooped her up immediately. Then came the actual first look between bride and groom, and Michael’s reaction to seeing Cristina was pure emotion. Tears, laughter, and a long embrace followed. These are the moments that make wedding photography so meaningful.

A winter wedding at The Roundhouse offers something truly special that other seasons simply cannot replicate. The cozy atmosphere inside contrasts beautifully with the winter landscape outside. Bare trees and muted colors create a romantic, almost ethereal backdrop for portraits. The venue’s industrial architecture feels warm and intimate when filled with twinkling lights and candlelight.

Shorter daylight hours mean stunning ceremony lighting and dramatic portraits. While some couples worry about limited outdoor time in winter, we actually love working with the early sunset. It means golden hour happens during cocktail hour, and evening ceremonies feel intimate and romantic rather than rushed. The soft winter light is incredibly flattering for portraits, without the harsh shadows you sometimes get in summer. Cristina and Michael’s winter wedding at The Roundhouse showcased all of these advantages beautifully.

We headed to nearby Fishkill Creek Overlook Falls for portraits. The winter landscape offered stunning natural beauty, with the water rushing over rocks and bare trees framing the couple. The muted palette of winter let Cristina’s dress and bouquet really pop in the photos.

We also used the venue’s exposed brick exterior for textured shots. These architectural details add character to winter wedding photography and provide variety in the gallery. The industrial elements of The Roundhouse photograph beautifully year-round, but there’s something especially striking about warm brick against a cold winter sky.

We returned to The Roundhouse for sunset portraits as the light turned golden. Cristina’s veil caught the last rays of sunlight beautifully, creating an almost glowing effect around her. Winter sunsets happen early, usually around 4:30pm in December, which creates a cozy evening atmosphere for the rest of the celebration.

The timing worked perfectly for their ceremony after sunset. We had plenty of time for romantic couple portraits during golden hour, family photos in the ceremony space with its gorgeous natural light, and still started the ceremony right on schedule. This is one of the hidden benefits of a winter wedding at The Roundhouse. The timeline flows naturally without the rushed feeling that sometimes comes with summer weddings when sunset happens during dinner.

The ceremony began after the sun went down completely. Twinkling lights strung above created a romantic and intimate atmosphere that took everyone’s breath away. The industrial space transforms beautifully for evening celebrations, with modern lighting complementing the historic architectural details.

Floor-to-ceiling windows provided gorgeous natural light for wedding party and family portraits beforehand. Even after dark, the windows reflected the interior lights and created a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. Guests were surrounded by warmth and glow while winter darkness settled outside. This is exactly why a winter wedding at The Roundhouse feels so magical.

The ceremony itself was deeply personal and emotional. Toward the end, baby Serena began to cry. Without missing a beat, Cristina lovingly picked up her daughter. There was no hesitation, no embarrassment, just a mother’s instinct to comfort her child during this important moment.

Serena stayed in her mother’s arms for the ring exchange. The officiant smiled and continued, and guests wiped away tears at the sweetness of the moment. The three of them shared their first kiss as a family, with Serena nestled between her parents. It was one of the most beautiful ceremony moments we’ve ever captured, and a perfect example of why we love documentary-style wedding photography. These unplanned moments are often the most meaningful.

The newly married couple walked back down the aisle together with their daughter, and guests erupted in cheers. The energy carried straight into cocktail hour, which featured delicious passed hors d’oeuvres and signature drinks. Guests mingled in the stunning industrial space with exposed beams overhead.

The reception setup was elegant and romantic. Twinkling lights created a canopy effect over the dance floor. Candles flickered on every table. The winter wedding at The Roundhouse felt like stepping into a warm, glowing haven while the cold night settled outside the windows.

Their first dance was sweet and romantic under the twinkling lights. The couple swayed together while Serena watched from grandma’s arms, occasionally waving at her parents. It was adorable and perfectly captured their priorities as a family.

The father of the bride delivered touching words about his daughter, sharing stories from her childhood and welcoming Michael to the family. The matron of honor shared funny and heartwarming stories about Cristina that had everyone laughing. The best man toasted Michael with humorous anecdotes from their friendship.

Traditional parent dances followed and created more emotional moments. The historic venue provides an intimate setting for these traditions, with warm lighting adding to the romantic atmosphere. After formal dances, guests filled the dance floor for hours of celebration. The energy was electric all night long.

Later in the evening, we stole the couple away briefly for some late-night portraits. They were feeling fun and flirty from all the dancing, and their energy was contagious. We captured stunning portraits on the venue’s dramatic staircase, using the moody evening lighting to create something artistic and romantic.

These late-night photos show their joy and connection beautifully. There’s something special about portraits taken after hours of celebrating. Couples are relaxed, happy, and completely themselves. The formal nervousness of the morning has melted away, replaced by pure joy. These are the kinds of images that make a winter wedding at The Roundhouse so memorable.
